John McCain was making a speech in South Carolina and when taking questions from the audience, someone asked and I quote: “So how do we beat the bitch?” Well, of course, the Clinton camp and allies and cronies are all over this today. Outraged. Indignant, they demanded that John McCain should have corrected the woman who used this term in reference to the wild-eyed woman running for president. Mr. McCain made a statement to this hard-talking-fast-shooting woman and ended his answer with, "I respect Ms. Clinton.” Well then Hillary supporters yelled "See. See, he used her name.” Well Duh. Duh and double duh.
Many times when I crawl into bed and think to myself that I probably won't have a post for tomorrow, as nothing really seems to be going on that is in the least newsworthy (that I haven't written about over and over again) and when I wake up and pour that first cup of coffee and turn to my part of the paper that always gets first attention from me (the editorials and the opinions of different journalists). I highly recommend that as a good start on the news of the day. Read how someone on the other side of the voting issues feels, and why they feel that way. Get it out of the way and read the rest of the newspaper at leisure, but this one issue about the woman with the question and her terminology and Mr. McCain's response floors me. “I respect Ms. Clinton.” That is bad? Good thing they don't ask old potty mouth me. Shocked and outraged would not do justice to the remark I would make. This woman and I could wile away hours in conversation about Ms. Clinton without one positive thing ever interfering with our conversation.
There was a poll taken by those who do this sort of thing and 64% think he did a good job with his response. The last few days have had the Clinton supporters crying foul because she is being ganged up on by the men due to the fact that she is a woman. Are they unreal or what? These are candidates for president. It sounds like pre-school blabber: “Teacher, little Johnny hit me back!” Well 64% of the poll takers do not agree with this assessment.
This current campaign has me running constantly to lift down that heavy dictionary just to make sure that I am correct in what a word means. Bitch is a female dog, wolf or fox. It can also mean a lewd woman or a spiteful complaining phrase. Here is what the Hillary camp should do with this word: Put a Clintonish spin on it and say “I am so glad you brought that up for I have wanted to speak to my adoring fans and family and ask that you please do not use that term Foxy too often in public. I know that you all do find me a sexy woman, a number 10, etc. but such terms somehow seem to detract that I am a brilliant, inspiring woman who will not, I repeat, not use my vast array of charms to influence my voters.” Sometimes I think Bill Clinton was right one time when he used another word while under oath about sex of the oral kind in the oval office. "It all depends on what you mean when you use the word is." Just so you know before I sign off ... is means is. I looked it up.
