Dearest Friends and Faithful Readers,
Dad passed away at approximately 11:50 AM CDST on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. His funeral was so beautiful and was held at Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas and Dad was then buried next to his wife and parents on Weston’s birthday, August 24th. Weston was a pallbearer and enjoyed his role immensely.
When I arrived at Dad’s apartment on Monday the 13th, Dad wasn’t in good shape. I took him to the hospital and he was eventually taken by ambulance to Lubbock that evening. Emergency surgery was done on him and it was found that cancer covered his colon, pancreas, liver, and probably elsewhere in his body.
We were able to spend several days with Dad in which he was weak but coherent. His last few hours were cut mercifully short and Dad passed peacefully. Lisa, Gary, Karen and I, as well as a minister and a couple of women from Hospice were all in the room with him.
We miss him. We always will.
Thank you, Lord, for your Time.
And for your people.
Love,
De’on

Oh, De'on- my deepest sympathies.
It is so hard to loose a parent.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Dearest De'on, Once again my heart just aches for you. I was visiting Aaron's site and read about your Dad from a Marine Mom looking for you. You are and will always remain in my heart and prayers. God Bless You and your Family.
Oh De'on, I'm so sorry! You've been on my mind lately and I came by to check on you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
We are doing pretty good. It is particularly hard on Gary now, as Dad was also his best friend. We all know it's for the best and are so grateful for the mercy in which God took him so quickly (once we knew...)but yes, we miss him and mourn him.
We are busy clearing out his little apartment and returning medical equipment, going through his precious things... but I'll return at least in part soon.
Today I'm cooking for my sister. I'm going to take care of them through this, just like they took care of me. Please keep Gary in your prayers. He is the only male Grigsby that remains, and he is our baby. I wish I could cook for him but I know Karen is way up to task on that, and I know he's taking care of her too. It is into his daughter-in-law's eyes he looked as she spoke to him just before his final breath. I'm sure it is for Gary that he lived as long as he did. Dad always watched over him.
I read the beautiful message on Aaron's board and will respond within a short time. Of course I remember you, Honor.
Semper Fi Mom...your sons are in my prayers. And you too.
Diane, it's been a long time...don't worry about me. I'm holding up well.
Flag Gazer, thank you. I know you know what you speak of and how much you think of your own dad.
God bless you all, and Semper Fi!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad that it was a peaceful passing, albeit painful for all that love him. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Semper Fi
Prayers from my family to yours. God Bless.
Oh Deon, I am so sorry for your loss! Due to our own crazy circumstances, I haven't been on here in a long time! I am so sorry I wasn't around earlier to send you my condolences. I love you and miss you and will be praying for the family!
Hugs and kisses! xoxoxo
You are in my thoughts, always De'on.
I'm sorry, De'on. Here's praying to you and your family.
Take care.
De'on - just checking up to see how you are doing...
Thinking of you!
Hi! Thought I would check in on you. I miss your inspiring wisdom and look forward to seeing your fonts again. I hope the kitchen remodel is going well. We are getting ready to put new cabinets in my oldest sons kitchen this weekend. I will take pictures of the before and after. Semper Fi Mom, I hope your boys are doing well. I have been praying for all three of you. Hope everyone is doing well!
God Bless
Hey De'on we miss you! Hope you are well.
Diane, thank you for thinking of us. The boys are doing well. One in Iraq and one in AZ for the moment.
