Semper Fi Mom tells me that Steven, Marine son # 1, is back on U.S. soil. Marine son #2 is stationed in North Carolina as well and so was able to meet his brother upon arrival. The Semper Fi Family in Lubbock now awaits #1 Son’s arrival for sweet, sweet leave. It’s my hope that I’ll get to meet Steven, even if briefly, during his short time home.
SFM said that he was “happy to be back and wanting Mexican food and that it was weird to see Marines in green cammies, evergreen trees, and working intersections.”
Thank you, SFM and much thanks to Steven for his service in Iraq, and to Father God for bringing him home! I know the party in Lubbock will be a big one! BELOW IS AN ARTICLE CONCERNING THE COMMAND'S RETURN.
After you read what Marine son #1 has been up to, then check out the article on the Ospreys. Marine son #2 spends his time with these creatures!

RCT-2 command element returns to Lejeune
Staff report
Posted : Wednesday Jan 23, 2008 12:32:03 EST
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — The command element of Regimental Combat Team 2 is expected to arrive here today after a 13-month deployment in Iraq.
Throughout its third combat deployment, RCT-2 conducted counterinsurgency operations in western Anbar province. The roughly 350-man regimental headquarters initially directed operations in an area of more than 30,000 square miles; it later burgeoned to 50,000 square miles, including a 210-mile border with Syria, according to a II Marine Expeditionary Force press release.
Nearly 15,000 Marines, sailors and soldiers and 11 infantry battalions rotated through western Anbar under RCT-2.
The remainder of the regiment is expected to return later this month.
Camp Pendleton, Calif.-based RCT-5 took over from RCT-2 during a transfer of authority ceremony Tuesday.
During the ceremony, Col. Patrick Malay, commanding officer of RCT-5, assumed control from Col. Stacy Clardy, commanding officer of RCT-2. Malay is returning to Anbar after commanding 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, during the Battle of Fallujah in 2004.
RCT-5 will continue the training and mentoring of the Iraqi Security Forces and provide assistance to local governments and citizens. The regiment will also oversee the military, police and border transition teams in western Anbar, officials said.

What wonderful news and what an awesome article about the Osbreys and the way they are saving lives. America has the greatest military in the world. Thank you so much, Semper Fi Mom, to you and both of your brave sons. You are truly an awesome American family and I can imagine how fun the welcome home party will be. I wonder if RCT-2 stopped in at Al Quaim or COP South when they were at the Syrian border?
Much love to you and your Family!
Karen, Steven did go to Al Qaim on some missions and also several COPs. I'll have to ask him about COP South. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. It really means a lot to us!
De'on, you are such a sweetie and I truly hope you can get to Lubbock while he is here. Maybe we can all go eat Mexican Food together. :) Do you like Rosa's?
The Ospreys are just fascinating to me, especially after I got to see one up close and personal. They are truly amazing aircraft!
Hi, Karen and SFM!
SFM: The check is in the mail te he (really, it's in the mailbox now) and thank you for all you do to support those awesome Marines! I don't know if it will fill and send one of those new big boxes I saw on your site, but it will help. Birthday girl will be happy if she ever gets to read about it. She is busy with taxes and also hopefully close to working herself free of her Landlord cap, so keep her in your prayers. Princesses need fun and apartments and people have a way of messing that up royally!
And I will make it a point to meet Steven. I would consider it an honor and just let me know when. Maybe I can stay at Gary and Karen's for a night and share with them the family history from our paternal side (it's so hard not to say Grigsby for the whole side! Boy, we're all made up of a lot of people, huh?)LOL!
I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to eat at Rosa's, though I know I've wanted to. I love Mexican food, so just email or call after he gets here and you see what the schedule looks like! The only dates I know of that I have an appointment written in stone is Feb 12th and if Feb 16th is on a Sat, then that one is in stone too. But I think he'll be gone by the 16th if my memory serves me correctly and I think it does. I've been doing a few brain exercises (not really, but it sounds so good...)
Karen, I have read all your comments and I'm sorry you were sick! I guess you hurt your back by purposes of upchugging, or that is the only thing I can think of! Sorry for all that for you and glad you're better!
I loved our visit last Saturday. The food and company were excellent and Jerry should cook for all of us more often, don't you think? ;)
Of course you could stay with Gary and I, that would be great! Let's plan on it! I can't wait to see the Grigsby family records. Gary and I have eaten at Rosa's before, you would have a wonderful meal with SFM and her Marine.
Yes, you were right on my back situation, not fun at all, but I'm getting better, and YES! Jerry should cook for all of us at least once a month! That man can bring home the bacon and cook it up better than anyone I know!
P.S.
Have you or Lisa baked up anything with your starter yet? I am putting the other recipes I have in the mail today to you and Little One so that you can do biscuts and pancakes and more.
ooopsies.... ;)Not good for me, but Lisa hooked up Jerry and will hook me up. I forgot mine. It was sort of sizzly when I picked mine up from Mom's office where I forgot it.
It's good I'm not Amish. I would be shunned. ;(
