It is absolutely the most beautiful pre-spring day here. Lovington really is a great place to live as far as the weather goes. The birds are singing and so busy eating the sunflower seeds in their feeders. Did you know that during the summer, our feathered friends eat nearly 100 lbs. of sunflower seeds a week from our two feeders? They bring us so much comfort. It's so enjoyable to watch them. Of course with us, they're probably overfed. Like my inside pets, they're a little too plump and lazy. One thing is for sure; they're not too lazy when it comes to making babies. We watch the little ones throughout the summer.
The two photos above were taken by Greg out on one of the leases he hauls oil from. Greg enjoys watching the wild life out in the middle of nowhere. I enjoy Greg. He's a keeper.
I'm a blessed woman. I really am.
I'm happy today and about to go to work on some posts and more "lit wallpaper" for our site.
I will daily add to the video thingy at the bottom. I hope the rest of you feel the freedom to add photos or sign the guestbook. I really don't want them all to be of Aaron. I can go and get photos from newspapers, but I'd rather some of the readers add some. These of course, are OIF photos. I think I'll keep them that way in case any of Aaron's friends come along and want to see. The Foto Album, on the side bar, will collect each photo that is posted on Gunz Up. That way, if it's the photos you might be interested in, they're all in one tidy place.
But back to Aaron's friends. I had a great surprise the other day. I went to Salon.com to check something and I noticed under my piece that there was another comment. Forever it stayed at 41 comments, then out of nowhere, there are 42. CPL. SIKES, a gunner that Aaron went to SOI with left a comment! I need to leave some sort of a comment back, but due to the liberals on this site and the nasty things they have to say about our Commander In Chief, I haven't. I would like to lead Sikes over here or to Aaron's message board, but I've never left a comment there, and I'm not sure how best to go about it, without directing "them" here. I've had all the negativity I can stand for a while.
Apparently, Sikes is retired, which tells me he must have been injured. If anyone knows how to contact him, please let me know. His message meant so much to me. Perhaps I shouldn't worry about it. Several of Aaron's friends have contacted me. The contact is usually brief and then disappears, except for a very few. I understand this now. More and more. And I know that daily, they mourn for "something" or "someone" just like I do. And to each of those: I love you, and I will never forget you. No matter how brief the contact, it was real. And lately, REAL means a lot to me.
So I'll be back later!
Semper Fi,
De'on

yOU ARE A DOLL! HOW ABOUT A HANDSOME PHOTO OF A MARINE OR A HOMEFRONT? :)
Oh, I see you did! How gorgeous you both are!
I'll be happy to add some more! I wasn't sure, since I don't have any OIF pictures of mine.
Oh, and you are so sweet to say we are gorgeous!! I do think hubby is pretty darn cute with his new facial hair. ;)
You both are like me and Greg. You favor one another! Except for the facial hair of course! Well, I'm getting there on that one. :0
But OIF has been a part of all of our lives. I should clarify that. I just was trying to narrow myself...no baby or youth pics...I'm putting some of those on SFC! lol.
Proud Mommas never die...maybe people just wish they would!?! :)
So please put more photos when you have time!
