Virgie Bell's View: Ties That Bind

O. J. Simpson. Go to Jail. Stay in Jail.......Forever.
Staples are out...Yea! I am so glad. De'on took me to the Dr. and of course I did everything wrong. I could not...COULD NOT...wear the corset thingamajig and the doctor did not like it one bit. Tell me why it is that hearing people think you can hear if they give you important information? For instance, he said “Raise your gown." I thought he said drop your panties and I did. De'on comes out of the chair like a shot "No Mom, raise your dress.” See. He called the very best dress that I had to wear a gown. I should have known that no one in their right mind would say drop your panties to me. Back to the corset thing. He said "Don't you have any biker shorts?" When is the last time you saw a 72 year old woman with a reserve set of biker shorts? So anyway, biker shorts are now part of my get well instructions. Biker shorts...

I didn't even know my computer was a dinosaur until De'on called it one. It still does much more than I know how to do, or for that matter even care to learn. Dear reader, I am so far behind on what is going on in the world. My major accomplishment was to turn from the left side to the right side. I see that O.J. is back on the tube. I do wish they would throw the key away after locking him in with some dude looking for a new squeeze. Justice my man...justice. His present girlfriend is a clone for the wife he murdered and I loved the fact his watch turned out to be a $100 look-alike for a Rolex. When you are not in that league anymore, get a Timex or go without, but don't try to keep up with the Rolex crowd. Speaking of which, have you noticed those who are, quote: "O.J.'s friends?" Goons, real goons. Makes the Heisman Trophy about in the same league as Al Gore’s Nobel Peace Prize. People will be stepping back and saying no, thanks, but no thanks. Anyway I am up a little more today and will tell my niece to go ahead and send presents or even male strippers as it is never too late. All they have to do is say "Raise your gown" and it's a go. Ha!

Virgie Bell's View: I'm Back!

I know that everyone is holding their breath about the surgery. It went just swell. It was the hospital care afterward that floored me, or rather, the lack of it. I was in and out of the hospital in ten hours and had packed stuff for the 24 to 72 hours the doctor told me it would take. The good news is that is all behind me now except for the recovery process. Pain and getting the old plumbing going again. After that, look for me to be the oldest hottie in NM.

I have been so tired of having to dress like something that was never even a little bit me. I have looked at catalogues that came in over the Christmas holidays and felt like crying because of what I used to be able to choose to wear compared to what I was forced to choose. I am strictly a blue jeans and shorts woman and I have worn tent dresses for so long. It was ridiculous to bother with make-up. It was like putting lipstick on a pig. During the time that I was forced to live this way I took stock of how the other more than plus sizes dressed and could not believe that they wore tight fitting pants and spaghetti straps and swayed the old butt as if they had something that we all yearned for, but it is true. If you have a good attitude you can carry it off, but I slinked wherever I went. I tried to sneak in and out of where ever I had to go. I think a house plant had more fun than I have had and was by far better looking. You just can't be a small size all your life and have one operation to suspend a bladder and it all changed overnight. I really think I needed therapy, but I was too ashamed for a therapist to see me. The only person I have been really comfortable around is the Orkin Man. Why? I don't know except it was his job to get rid of ugly things and he knew this ugly thing held the paycheck. So if you think I was feisty before, well you ain't seen nothing yet.

I have really felt pretty two-faced talking about how Hillary looked when I looked like the loser of her Siamese twin, but at least I had the decency to hide myself when at all possible. I am really interested in my niece’s new program of getting healthy. She calls it a two day a month cleanse and I am sure a healthy diet which I have always eaten anyway. I can tell her right now that the two day cleanse is for real, for your tummy holds next to nothing and you are full. I ate my first food this evening. I had bacon and mashed potatoes and gravy. I love bacon and I love mashed potatoes and gravy but I lay in bed obsessed for this meal. Tomorrow it will be steak and baked potatoes and salad, and Bill’s. De'on can explain what Bill’s is but it is delicious. Much like chow-chow but better, and Jerry canned them himself. Look for Greg to do the same. No, we won't share this recipe for it would make a fantastic Christmas gift and a very exclusive gift at that. You could make a fortune with this if you just had the pleasure of fortune blessed friends and family, which we do not. I would really appreciate Tonya posting her health thing, because I promise you, being healthy is worth more than all the money in the world.

The reason we get kicked out of the hospital so quick anymore is because all hospitals harbor the staph germ, which is deadly. Maybe that is why they kicked me out of the hospital because I looked like something the Orkin Man should have done away with. I have a few really overweight friends and relatives that enjoyed this portion of my life. Some actually sneered and it alarmed me. But it will be a whole new world for me and I intend to wipe that sneer off her face...no I am not telling who, but I’ll bet De'on has already guessed. I have never figured out why this person hates me but De'on said I would put Gushy-poo Pelosi to shame as to how hard I try to be nice to her. Now she can have a reason, because every man worth his salt will lust...not really that was over years ago. But I will be cuter than she is....Tee Hee

The Brewing Storm

Lighting Strikes Twice

Greg's photo from 3/28/07

***

It’s been pretty quiet around here as the stormy Virgie Bell recoups from her surgery. All went well as far as the doctor, Jerry and children were concerned. I think Mom had a tiny little problem with the quickness of it all as they pushed her dress over her head while she sat in place to check out “her plumbing” as it were. So, no doubt, a future post about the future of our medical care could be in place after she feels like sitting up and letting it rip once again! She was not even out from under the cloud of anesthesia good when she said to me, “And just think, they want to add 12,000 illegals to this. If Hillary wins, it will be even worse…socialized healthcare….”

Anyway, we were in and out in less than ten hours. Jerry and I treated ourselves to the famous Olive Garden lunch special and then we suffered through a trip to two different Home Depots for my husband. Oh, and no, it wasn’t a free for all hospital we were at, but has anyone else noticed how really crowded the whole thing is? It’s tough out there, so stay well!

As far as the Miller household goes, we are well. Greg pulled up the carpet in the den and put down wood laminate. Hen and Isaac freaked for a while on the floor and were just about to grasp the toe-hip-thrust of it all when we laid a nice area rug down for them. Greg also painted the walls and ceiling and everything looks great.

The painting above, titled by Greg is "my almost first” painting which is now a part of our den interior. I say almost first because this was from my first lesson in October. The instructor not only highly instructed most of it, she also saved it a couple of times. One may also note that it is not signed. So this could also be my first unsigned painting. Anyway, it’s dry, it’s Greg’s and it’s hung! Does anyone recognize the source from which the art originates? Discluding animal hair. Yes, it is my #1 pecan tree and I painted it from Greg’s photo. I left off a great many of the pecan buds. I felt my chances much better without them.

I did notice Kerry has thrown his support to Obama. Well, we all know what a help to poor Barrack that should be!

Take care and Semper Fi!

Virgie Bell's View: From Planet What?

Al "Gassy" Gore - All Heated up over Global Warming.
His "Hot Air" is just making it worse.

How perfectly ignorant and utterly stupid for someone to have an abortion and to become sterilized in order to save carbon credit and to be entitled to a trip without adding to the Greenhouse Effect as presented by Al Gore.

I thought of old Al last night as I have just now started on a new book by Michael Creighton. As you may or may not remember, I posted on Gunz Up the difference in Creighton's and big Al's interpretation as to the business of global warming as set forth by Al Gore and the disputed viewpoint of Creighton.

Creighton has credentials the likes of which I have never seen. Gore and I stand on about equal footing in that department. That is to say, not much. Al Gore has taken a job at some big salary in some big company while Creighton goes on to write one block buster novel after another. There is really no comparison between the two and I do mean ZILCH!

I am surprised that I didn't know about this new book. The title is NEXT and it appears to be a doozey. I have wanted to know more about stem cell research so that I could be more informed as to what it really is. This book was in paperback, which really put me out with my Book Club that I just now found it. On looking back, I do recall there have been a few that I provided the wrong number of which books I wanted. I wish that I had known it was his so I could have re-supplied the club with the right one.

Creighton supplies the different scientific facts and figures to the things that he writes about when he mixes fact and fiction. I do not enjoy a lot of technical reading. I find it absolutely boring. He uses factual material with fictitious characters in the plot in order to pull together a really great storyline as well as a wealth of information. I’m sure when I finish this I will have opinions galore, as well as facts by someone who gives the raw data and not just their Dream world vision fed upon by the winner of the Academy Award winner and Nobel Peace prize winner ,THAT JOLLY OLD AL GORE and Clinton Administration Vice President. Leave it to old Al to receive accolades from the Hollywood Set who have a combined intelligence rating of the average 5th grader.

I don't know who decides on the Nobel Peace Prize and I quit caring as soon as I found out that the tired and weary and totally wimpy Jimmy Carter had received one. Nelson Mandela was a recipient also and I am very unimpressed by this man. He was on the tube declaring Iran had a right to a Nuclear Bomb because the USA had one.

I swear my life has just fallen through the cracks as far as the movies are concerned. “Enchanted” is supposed to be a big hit and it also has Susan Sarandon playing in it. I take it that the part of my life in which I could eat popcorn and have a form of visual escapism is over. I refuse to give one penny to the cause of someone as Anti-American as old Warhorse Sarandon. It seems a shame that one could long for the House of Un-American Activities, but there you go. Just know that when my time comes for my new book that everyone can get ready for some good old smart mouth writing from old smart mouth me. Meanwhile we can look for the light side of the season with poor old tired old Lisa. That should be fun. I hate Greg for the picture as well as Ray and Karen for the only good titles to the dumbest picture we could hope to title.

I’ve been in a pretty good mood today.

Virgie Bell's View: Snits and Sans

I am just so glad we are going to get back to doing this blog as these times seem so very important to delve into just a bit deeper than most people seem to be willing to do. Politics have been my soap opera for so long so that I of course, get pretty deep into it.

I’ve never watched any sitcoms except for maybe two or three, many years ago. I did watch Dancing With The Stars for one season but gave that up when Heather Mills was on it with her fake leg. It seemed a shame to me then. Of course, there are many things that are more important than getting in a snit about the soon to be ex-Ms. Paul McCartney, but my snit seemed to be validated when I read in the paper today that she showed up in court with a dark blanket hiding her from view and an assistant bringing up the rear with a wheel chair in full view. This was for a court hearing about why she needs more than $30,000,000.00 compensation. Dear reader, I must tell you that you have missed so many snitful posts that it is a shame. Important stuff, as well as which stars have been running around sans panties and which have shown their ass with their stupid diatribes about what we need to know as far as these vast treasures of knowledge feel they need to convey to those of us who do not make our living with the vital talent of "Let's Pretend". But hey, I'm back and the snit goes on.

Lisa and Kayla went to Santa Fe with us for a few days a couple or three years ago and we visited museums and art galleries galore. A thing I love to do. One that held a proportionate spot was about something with a tribute to John Lennon and his wisdom. Something along those lines and of course, I all but laughed out loud. Lisa said, "But Mom, John Lennon." I don't know, but maybe he was pretty full of the essential facts for the road to peace. If laying in bed for two weeks withYoko Ono naked helped world peace, then I am really pretty dense. I will say this much, I wish all the little movie stars would just take to the bed for two weeks at a time. It might work. Do not confuse talent for acting with the fount of wisdom. Just because someone has public exposure does not make them an intellectual. One of the really true aphorisms my dad stressed was that so many that are truly ignorant could keep the fact hidden if they just learned to keep their mouth shut.

When De'on called this morning and said “We’re back,” I was so relieved because these really are important times. She said for me to keep it pretty short. Therefore dear reader, if you miss my posts coming as often as they did, don't worry about it. Rest assured, I will be lying up in bed doing my part to advance world peace...sans panties...and sans camera. Don't look for me to receive the Noble Peace Prize and I’m pretty sure I would turn it down anyway. Wimpy Jimmy Carter and Goofy Al Gore now have been granted one each. I would be embarrassed to accept one anyway as neither one of these dudes SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

1952

I got an e-mail from my traveling friend in Amherst. Mickey’s class is having a class reunion this year at the Amherst celebration. So what all was going on in the world when he graduated? In the year 1952, the Democrat’s long hold over the White House was coming to an end. We had a real hero to go into office. The great General Dwight D. Eisenhower would become the president and his running mate, Richard Nixon, Vice President. No matter what is going on in the world, you cannot get away from politics.

Poodles and pony tails were all the rage, along with the game of Scrabble and the chlorophyll products. Mickey was co-captain of the Amherst Bulldogs. This was the year that Mickey voted for Jean against me for football queen. See Friday Night Lights, Junior Play and senior trip post. Harvey, De’on’s dad, won Pep Squad King. Debbie Reynolds and Marilyn Monroe were the big female hits for the movies. Singing in the Rain was one of the movies highlighted that year. Patti Page was the top singer with “Doggie in the Window”, and “Till I Waltz Again with You.”

Books: The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale and Giant by Edna Ferber. Joy just got back from Chicago for a girl trip with her daughters. She was one of the cheerleaders for 1952 and was the steady beau of her future husband Harvey (not our Harvey!). It was a slow and easy time for those of us who lived in this part of the country. I hope De'on and I will be able to go for the Amherst celebration. I want to see everyone at least once more before I check out...

Virgie Bell's View: Fair and Unbalanced

I didn't see the show on Fox where Greta Van Susteren asked her viewers to send e-mails into her concerning their reactions to Rosie O'Donnell's goofy remarks about the supposed torture that goes on at Guantanamo, but in her postings today, Greta said she got hundreds of comments, but trying to find a balanced view to her question was hard. It seems the public is so very much against Rosie. Greta said she also had a hard time finding even one to print because some were expressed in such unprintable language.

How America became fascinated with someone like Rosie O'Donnell is beyond me. I don't watch American Idol until maybe their last two programs. As I’ve said before, this is simply because I do not enjoy watching people make fools of themselves. I don't know how I ever acquired the one copy of the magazine that Rosie was head of, but I did run across one here a while back. When I glanced through it, I wondered then what all the hubbub was about. What the fans of hers found so appealing.

I caught a little of her show a couple of times and really was trying to find the appeal. I certainly had no preconceived ideas. I was searching for something that would make her one of the most popular women on TV. It was only after the 9/11 attacks that I found even one thing that appealed to me. I mean she is typical Dyke. She walks, talks, and carries herself in a way that would not do credit to male or female, so it was definitely NOT those attributes. But instead, what impressed me was that I had read a quote in which she’d stated that she was so taken with President Bush and the way in which he led our nation. She said that he had literally held us together as a nation. She also said that if overweight women past age forty were profiled as suspects, then she wanted to be searched every time she boarded an airplane. She even told how she choked with pride when President Bush threw the first baseball when baseball season began.

I have tried to find her reasoning for her very different opinion at the present time. What has happened? When we were attacked on 9/11, war was declared on us. How insane do you have to be that you would think otherwise? What else do you call an attack on a sovereign nation—if not war?

There are two choices to make in a situation like that one. They are fight the war or surrender. There is nothing else. It’s one or the other. Were we to surrender without firing a shot? How insane is that? Next, we had to have a battlefield. Iraq suited me fine. I saw the pictures of the Kurds he gassed. I watched him take over another nation. I saw the thousands of oil wells on fire when he was driven out of Kuwait. We had a choice of battlefields. New York City or Baghdad. For us to have chosen solely Afghanistan would have been insane. It would have been about as useful to house a superpower as I would be to accommodate the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at my house. So now we were to just do really stupid things. To not even try to fight for our country. To be a superpower and give up to Al Qaeda. That is all that I can comprehend. I heard Senator Clinton when she was shaking her fist and yelling that if Bush didn't stop this war during his administration she would....OH? SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

Virgie Bell's View: Big 'E' continues to head south

I can't comprehend all the talk about how we in the USA have started a war. I beheld the devastation that was 9/11, as we all did, and yet we seem to be blamed that it happened to us. That we somehow had it coming to us because we are what we are. Whatever someone perceives us to be. Warmongers, The Great Satan, you name it and we are it. The protesters are out in force today. The same ones that protest everything. My silent protest doesn’t amount to much. At one time I looked forward to going to the movies. To get out and enjoy a simple thing in an ordinary simple life. Now it seems that each movie has some nut job thrown in just to force down our throats someone like Charlie Sheen or Sean Penn. Just the same old bull that never seems to go away.

I feel certain that the movie industry doesn't miss my measly ticket purchase. I wonder if I am the only one that misses my lifestyle. I refuse to indulge the anti-everything with any money for entertainment that would help in anyway those who blame us for a war thrust upon us. I don't care what we did or did not do; we never deserved to be attacked on that fateful day when America changed forever.

No one wishes more than I do that we had been attacked by an enemy within a certain boundary. A country that we could point out and bomb the heck out of. Instead we are left with an enemy that hides among the innocent and then the world roars against us if we don't just set there and try dialog to solve something that destroyed the world as we knew it before that tragic day.

The news today makes me sad. Protesters aside. Just the blame that comes our way. Yes, we have lost over 3000 of the most wonderful fighting force on the face of the earth. Is that how we measure the War on Terror? How utterly ridiculous. I have but one little part that I can play in all of this and that is to SUPPORT THE TROOPS SOME!

Virgie Bell's View: If only their mouths were as small as their minds....

Rosie O' Donnell is a complete idiot. I have never watched the program "The View" and never intend to. However, you can't miss Rosie. She just happens to make it into a sound bite nearly everyday. It is always in some really ridiculous way. I can’t say that I ever was impressed by her. Once in a while I would run across her show and invariably asked myself why she had a show.

I do remember Barbara Walters as having some stature but to have Rosie take over “The View” as she seems to; well it seems it all wasn't anything but an illusion. Anyway what Rosie was blabbing about yesterday was the outrage of the USA using torture to get a confession out of Khalid Sheikh Mohammad. Is she crazy? This is a man who is holding the severed head of Richard Pearl, the journalist, up after he whacked it off with his" blessed right hand”. She said the CIA used torture to get this confession. The CIA has nothing whatsoever to do with any of this. This is a military affair and has nothing to do with any of it. When will the public decide that we have had enough of this slob and her remarks? She is as near nothing as can be when it comes to being informed. She has the exact same information as you and I do, yet chooses to misinform us of what she has read. I will be glad when she has gone the way of Roseanne Barr. Gone and all but forgotten.

It seems that the treatment of waterboarding is torture? I don't know exactly what it is but it is only an illusion; Richard Pearl’s decapitation was reality. We’re talking about the ‘feeling’ of drowning verses beheading. But we are always the bad guy, right Rosie? And you are the beautiful and intelligent ideal of all women. She can take "her wife" and her opinions home to her ideal home and crawl away forever as far as we are concerned.

The Donald Trump is saying that the war against terror is a tragic mistake. How wonderful to have the wisdom of that show-off tell us what he thinks. I guess someone must put some credit into what these two say, but I surely don't understand how. They both have a severe case of diarrhea of the mouth.

I did notice a little bit of backing down on the part of the Democratic candidates concerning the troop surge. As of yesterday, the violence in Baghdad and surrounding countryside was down 30%. Pretty impressive by anyone's standard. I love and admire our wonderful troops that fight in these foreign lands so that we may enjoy our freedom. And if anything, after Rosie and the Donald get through with mouthing off, then I SUPPORT THE TROOPS EVEN MORE!

Virgie Bell's View: We The People

I really had to stop and think to do my post yesterday. We have been so inundated with Anna Nicole and Britney behaving badly that it has knocked other news off the air. The editorial pages have all tuned in to the same fiascos and all news has honed its way down to this ridiculous stuff. It will start up again in March when both of the main fathers (maybe) will be going at it for custody of the baby girl. In the newspaper today it was reported that tourists are flocking to the grave sight to view this misguided woman's grave. If you have read this post even this far I will assume you will not be among them. It is the very last thing on my list of things to do and places to go in my life. If news keeps on being this exciting you can look for my posts to be discussing names out of the phone book.

In just a snippet of news last night I found that 52 percent of the American population is indeed against withholding funds for the troops. This was my prediction recently when I put my trust with the good old American population. So much for John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi, and all the rest of the feather brains that now run our country. As I have said many times, President George Bush is the first time I voted for a republican and I have been solidly behind him ever since. When he stood on the mound of plowed rubble and yelled through a megaphone to the workers in the ruins of what had been the Twin Towers in the aftermath of 9/11, he won my loyalty forever. Give me a leader who is willing to lead when my country suffers from war that was thrust upon us. I did not make him my God. I don't expect him and his administration to not make mistakes. To err is after all, human.

I heard a little bit of a speech made by America’s Mayor. I like him. But he also earned my admiration forever for his superb performance during the 9/11 crisis. The first attack on our continent by a foreign power. I get so aggravated at our newscasters and talking heads when we let them sell us a bill of goods about what the American People want. They claim we are wanting out of a war in Iraq. I think rather that they might think what we really want is to win the war on terror. This will be our goal from now on. We the citizens are not as simple as we are portrayed to be. The politicians are just a bunch of windbags that we keep in Washington to have a go at each other so that we can keep our wonderful military on the fields of battle without having to put up with this bunch of greedy, power hungry windbags doing too much damage.

We took a big hit on our few shares in the stock market after Al Gore’s little acceptance speech at the Academy Awards. The Democratic Party is ready to take our tax dollars to heal the environment. As I’ve said before, either God will do that or it is not going to happen. But hey, go hug a tree a day if that makes you feel any better. We have sugar beets, corn, and grain as the alternative sources. When is the last time you saw us seeding a cloud and ending a drought? Right. You haven't. We started a race long ago in the Garden of Eden with the Prince of the Power of the air and we won't stop it ever. Greenhouse gas has been going on since the beginning also. It will continue to do so. That is because we are a civilization of people and we have a lot of trash and waste to get rid of. In other words, the solution to greenhouse gas is to farm our way out of it. The farmer’s crops are on top of the earth’s surface whereas fossil fuel lies beneath and is out of reach from the weather.

A large supply of oil was discovered this last week in Arkansas. It is called shale oil and the price of crude has to be at $70 per barrel in order to make it feasible to extract it out. We have enough to keep us going and growing for a lot of centuries. Now we are going to put all this money into vegetable oil. Just as soon as we can control the seasons, make the rain fall and control freezes it will work. We should also be ready to pay an enormous price for food and clothing. Try out the price of orange juice after this last hard freeze and see what it does to your budget.

My fellow Americans let me tell you what is going to happen to you in the future if you are lucky. You will work from paycheck to paycheck. You will make enough for car payments, house payments, and insurance. If you are extremely lucky you will enjoy good health and get to eat out and go to a movie now and then. When that happens to you I want you to know that you are living the great American Dream that has cost us the blood of our armed forces. If you are one of these fortunate people who work from paycheck to paycheck and make house payments, and car payments then you are blessed. God has blessed you beyond all measure. God bless you: the real American people. When push came to shove, you still were right there to see that we would fund and fully SUPPORT THE TROOPS!
