This is a post sent to me at 2:00 PM yesterday. Tardiness is strictly busy editor's fault.
It was just a short sound bite on the news, but it seems dear old Ted Kennedy may have cost Obama some votes. It really comes as no surprise to most of us, and as far as being useful to Hillary, the Come Back Kid is falling by the wayside too.
The turn out for voters on Super Tuesday was remarkable with more turn out than has been shown for years. The voters are really and truly sick to death of the politicians and all of the promises that are made to us and yet never fulfilled. Obama and Clinton are still running neck and neck and I really hate that fact. I wanted Hillary to be the candidate for the simple reason I feel she is beatable at least much more so than Obama.
The thing about Obama is that although he has missed 168 senatorial meetings, the only time he has been led to show an up or down vote, he has used the word present. That is how he has gotten where he is today, with the remarkable achievements of showing up and rendering neither a yes or no vote, except when called upon to cut funding for the troops. He is very much against the War on Terror and wants to pull the troops out of the Middle East. Now I have a big issue with that kind of mindset. Everyone else can swoon over him as if he was the Second Coming, but not me. Fund our military or get off the platform campaigning for their Commander in Chief. You have no right to say either yea or nay as far as I am concerned. The carnage of that September day will forever be stamped on my brain and millions of others just like me. I will never forget and I will never forgive.
There is still much being said about the use of water boarding and I want to make myself clear on that little issue. It scares them. Well big BOO HOO. Scaring someone is now considered cruel and unusual punishment. I think of those three thousand souls caught up in the Twin Towers, I see those poor souls jumping from windows to their death instead of being consumed by fire. Scared the holy hell out of them is all I can say. Read the firsthand accounts of those who survived. How about the blind man coming down the stairway with his Seeing Eye dog? Think he wasn't scared? Think the obedient dog was not scared? Ever watch mans best friend when the fire crackers go off on the July 4th? Multiply that by three thousand. Given a choice, the victims of that horrible day would have begged for water boarding.
McCain is against torture but scaring is not torture. The feeling that you are drowning is scary and if it saves one American life, why do we even care? Perhaps we should just cut off heads as do the terrorists, and on camera. That scares me. The latest recruits for Bin Laden use children as young as 6 years old. They will be sent into the enemies’ camp (into us) as human bombs. It was a favorite trick of the Japanese during World War 2 to take babies and lay them out on the ground for our troops who were dug-in to listen to while they waited for the next attack, knowing these helpless babies were the innocent victims. I talked with an old War Horse Marine who was there and it was his worst nightmare. The thing about war is that it just has two outcomes. Win or lose. Oh, you can surrender in something called ‘peace with honor’ as did old tricky Dick, but really, if you are going to be in war, you need to win the darn thing, and if you are attacked as we were on 9/11 while we were giving Peace A Chance, you are in one before you even know it. Peaceniks make me sick, and really they always have. Our military gives their life’s blood so they can march and scream their heads off and do so unmolested.
I will also voice another complaint about illegal immigration. Once I saw flags from other countries as they demanded rights they are not entitled to they lost me. This is America; we have our own flag and long may it wave. Yesterday I read in the paper where some wise old soul said if we would take the money we will spend on the fence trying to seal the border and send it to Mexico, that the illegals will go flooding back home. Billions of dollars—and send it to old Mexico? We have our own goofy government to pay for. So yeah, I am for McCain. I want to win this war that was declared on us. Just like my parents wanted to win when we were bombed in Pearl Harbor. Yes, the war is costing us no telling how much money. Wars just do. It goes with the very essence of war. We did not start this war and I feel that John McCain has been battle-tested to have his place as the Commander-In-Chief. I love my country and I love my freedom to write this post, so excuse me if I don't get all weepy while someone feels they are drowning. After we lost Aaron, I felt that I was drowning many times, but it was tears. Just to write about it, makes me feel that same thing again. So no, I am not for Obama. I am Virgie Bell...PRESENT. How stupid to use taxpayer money and only vote present. Might as well stay home for all the good you do...present! How silly.

Virgie Bell's View: The War, the war, the war!
To make myself perfectly clear on how I stand as far as the Democratic candidates are concerned, let me stress that I hope neither Obama nor Hillary become president of my country. Realistically, I have to deal with the fact that there will be one that is in the final run for the White House and since that is the case I would hope that one would be Bill Clinton's little wife with her vast knowledge of how to stand by your man no matter how much he may abuse the sanctity of marriage. She is a documented cuckold in front of the whole world and these two have shown the world that they have nary a care about the safety of the United States of America.
As I have stated over and over again, my concern is to fight the War on Terror and to win that, doing whatever it takes. It is laughable to me that we still hear talk of diplomacy and dialog as if the Islamic Extremists even care. Whoopi Goldberg said at one time that it would be one on one to talk our way out of this war and that was the only way. I said at the time "Dear Whoopi, you go first." On second thought, perhaps you should send the singer who recently divorced Bobby Brown. Cannot think of her name, but Bin Laden thinks she is the sexiest woman on the planet, which of course no one has ever been under the illusion that Whoopi was ever anything but, well Whoopi. Nuff said.
Barack Obama is a blank sheet of paper as far as anyone can tell. Hidden as it were, in what and who he really is or what he stands for. He hasn't made many mistakes and certainly has not made any advances as far as I can tell. He popped-up on the world stage as the Senator of Illinois and as far as his personal life and beliefs, he has written a couple of tear-jerkers that have been published as non-fiction. I don't pay much attention to those kinds of books. They are slanted to the extreme. They are self-serving and most often full of statements that have nothing to do the reality of that person’s life or real intentions. Check out Ted Kennedy's heroic effort to save the little campaign worker who died at the bottom of Chappaquiddick while he made dive after dive risking his life in order to save her. After the-Kennedy-save-the-Kennedy-machine got in full gear, it was almost to the point that I felt sorry for him to have been put into such a hazardous situation. I even worried about his neck brace. Did him hurt his widdle self, that great big hero. He came out later as a candidate for President and almost had to dodge the tomatoes and heads of lettuce that were thrown at him at this announcement.
King of slap-stick comedy is our Ted Kennedy. Elder statesmen? My hind-leg, as my mother used to say. Old gaseous windbag is more like it. I loved his older brothers, but I detest old Ted. As I said, he would not get elected dog-catcher outside his own state. When Ted Kennedy leads the parade, I stay home. Simple as that. I also do not pay much attention to Rush Limbaugh. Actually, I am pretty much a free thinker. The 'G' man was my first choice ,and now McCain is my choice. Simple, really, to come to this conclusion.
I watched with the rest of the world as Giuliani plowed into saving lives and did so tirelessly after 9/11. He proved his mettle, so to speak, and that is what counts to me. The thing with Obama that I do not like is him claiming to be against the war that was declared on us that September Day. If my country is attacked, my country will not surrender without a mighty effort to save us here in the USA. That has been proven over and over again with the precious blood spilled by our beloved military. The most beautiful boy with the most beautiful smile and a ton of personality gave his life for this cause. My grandson, Lance Corporal Aaron Cole Austin.
I don't care what party, race or gender a candidate may be. I want a warrior who will fight to the finish and give his life for my freedom. John McCain may be a little on the liberal side. He may even be friends and agree with a few of the Democratic numbskulls in DC. He spent seven years in Hanoi as a POW. He was even offered by the Viet Cong a release as a way for them to further propaganda. He refused his freedom in order stay with the other Prisoners of War. A hero...a real Hero. He said he would follow Bin Laden to the gates of hell to track him down. So Whoopi can definitely go first in the one on one dialog. I will vote for the man who survived in the hell holes of Vietnam as a tortured and beaten man and one who did not turn his back on his country or my country. As I said Whoopi...you go first and may I add that when you go; Please stay.

Virgie Bell's View: Uncrossed Lines
Surely everyone remembers Berkeley. You know that city by the bay. The home of the University of California and several preparatory schools. Here in the desert country, our preparatory schools are Future Homemakers and Future Farmers of America. If you are from San Francisco area you may want to get up off the floor and stop your hysterical laughter. I agree in this atmosphere being so far removed from the reality show that is taught at the University of California, or for that matter, many other institutions of higher learning across the country, but if you want to be Way Cool Dude then the city by the bay wherein you left your heart is the place to be. They turned out such luminaries as Taliban Johnny Walker, the Poster Child for Bin Laden. This is the beloved hometown of Prissy Pelosi where she gave birth to her five children. It is headquarters to that sweet little click full of grown men who want to take little boys twelve and over the joy of being a grown man’s little lover.
Taliban Johnny Walker was in his teens when his dad just gave up on having a marriage and took his lover and they jumped out of the closet together holding hands. I have been to this area of California and they have all kinds of religious organizations. I failed to get which denomination one church was but I do recall the name of the Reverend. It was displayed proudly outside in bold letters. The Rev. F--k. You fill in the blanks.
Here in the backward part of the country that just would not go. Might as well be a Nazi and try to be accepted by polite society. Here we have recruiters from every branch of the military, and we welcome them. We know they are all that stands between us and the Islamic Extremists who want us all dead.
Birth place of the true hippy movement. My sister and I were there for a visit and the visit was indeed an eye opener. Dirty, tattered, drug addicts enjoying the free love movement like no other place in the world. Cool...peace...brother. Make Love. Not war. Give Peace A Chance. So we did that. We gave peace a chance with the same candidates in the White House that are doing their best to get back in. Hillary wants to give a million dollars to a Fund for Woodstock. She was refused because some of them in that fair city happened to remember that the FFA and FHA were voters.
We are doing our best to forget this shameful part of history that gave us Charles Manson and the PLO. We pulled out of Vietnam and gave a platform for the John Kerry’s and the Socialist Couple of America Bill and Hillary Clinton, so here we are. Our Marine Recruiters are not allowed at Berkeley but don't get too bent out of shape, Recruiters are not welcome at some of the Ivy Leagues in the eastern part of the USA. No one can out do Warren Churchill. That professor from Colorado. There really is nothing we can do to overcome the one time that we as a nation surrendered to the enemy within. I am so glad my parents were of the generation that would kick someone’s ass over the moon before they would have put up with that stuff. Boundaries are wonderful.
The most wonderful thing to behold is the line you will not cross. The one that separates you from those who know no boundaries and respect no rules. Those like Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Adolph Hitler, Pol Pot, and Mussolini. The list is endless. It stretches back to the beginning of time and it is the infinitely in eternity. The children of those men of old, men of renown. They await you in the depth of hell. The Reverend F--k will welcome you and they will not allow the Marines to try to recruit there. Just the same as there at Berkeley. They are so ignorant and I hate them.

Virgie Bell's View: Relics and Wraps
Left-Wing Witch - Ms. Susan SarandonMy Time magazine arrived yesterday and as usual, I’m almost to the point of requesting the thing be delivered in a plain brown wrapper, however, I’m certainly glad I received this issue which contained the wisdom of the ever wise and powerful Ms. Susan Sarandon. I view her insight into world affairs and politics as the most uninformed woman on the planet. Why is it that our typical Hollywood women want to convey just how really out of touch they seem to be? She is the liberals liberal and she is typical of her fellow actresses. Whoops...I mean actors. Somewhere along the way it became politically incorrect to call a female in the business of make-believe an actress. They are actors. Male, young, old, female, staring in a role or bit player. Actors everyone and don't you forget it. The reason behind this escapes me just as it escapes me why I still keep on keeping on with my very liberal magazine.
When I was in high school English class there in Amherst, Texas, I was taught there was a key word which identified the marriage state of a female person. Miss: unmarried. Mrs. was married. I did not know a thing about Ms. and I don't think anyone else did either. I will say this for the lessons we all learn in this education called life. You never can get it right. One little thing I learned is the saying" Ain't, ain't in the dictionary". Well now it is. No matter hard we try to keep up, knowledge can still outrun the best of us. Who decides these things is another little thing I seem to miss (no pun intended).
At any rate, I now hold on my lap one-half of my World Book Dictionary. This is from somewhere in the 60's or so. It has no mention of Ms. ms (no period) means millisecond, whereas MS Ms or ms (no period) means manuscript. My American Century dictionary does contain the title Ms. which has the correct usage as either married or unmarried. So the most I learned from Ms. Sarandon is that she and Tim Robbins are married. This is news to me also. Last I heard, they were afraid that the marriage on paper would ruin the relationship that was written on the wind and destined for greatness. Is this confusing or what?
When I was a child at school in Fieldton, Texas, when I needed to look up a word, I had to go to a bookstand that held the gigantic dictionary. It was too large for a little girl to be able to haul around. Do not throw those old reference books away. You can now carry the corrected dictionary in your backpack right along with your notebook, English book, geography book and an apple for the teacher. one may also substitute the apple for a gun or a switch-blade knife. This dear reader is progress. It absolutely amazes me. I was at one time acknowledged as being far above my grade level in English and Literature. Now I run to and fro, trying to find out if Ms. is a real word or title. I think maybe that old hero, John Kerry, is the one who updates these things. I was for it before I was against it. Close enough I guess. Duh! But the real wonder of the week was not in the Time Magazine. It was Kate Hudson.
I think Kate lives in NM. She is the daughter of Goldie Hawn and came into her own a few years ago. Her new movie with Matthew McConahay is something that she feels (shudder, shudder) will be a part of history for her children to remember (she in a string bikini while Matthew was fully clothed). Dear little Kate was on the cover of some major magazine a few years ago completely nude. I read the article wherein she said they all went around the house naked all the time. They were taught not to be ashamed of their bodies. I used to play rough and tumble with my brothers back when girls wore dresses and my dad would say to me, “Get your dress down Sis, I can see your panties.” The moral of this post is that like my computer, I am a dinosaur and to tell the truth, more than a little ashamed of my body. I I still do not use the word ain't and as far as Ms. Sarandon and Ms. Hudson are concerned they both sound like twiddle-dee and twiddle-dum. Blah.

Virgie Bell's View: The Afternoon After
Of course I watched and listened to the last State of the Union speech by President Bush last night. I will say this for him: he has done his best to fight the fight on terror. That’s the main consideration that weighs most on me and my family. Our military has always been my hero and will always be. I think that was the reason we were all Democratic Party members to begin with. FDR influenced us and without him behind our forces, who knows what would have happened. JFK only increased my loyalty, but after that it seems to have spiraled downward and did so at an alarming rate. When Desert Storm and Desert Shield happened, I was solidly behind Bush the elder, but it was Bill Clinton who finished me off on the Democratic Party. He was such a fake and such a liar, but it was not until his final hours that I gave up on the party and decided that my loyalty to my country would be first.
I know it looks bad for Giuliani, and I have regret for that now. He was a proven leader during 9/11 and if Clinton had been taking care of business, I feel the attack would never have occurred to start with. He did nothing with the first attack on the World Trade Center and ignored the USS Cole. The only effort he expended was to send a Scud Missile to an unpopulated place which destroyed some sand dunes and scared some camels. He turned down Bin Laden when he was offered to us on a silver platter by the Saudi Government. I am just about sick to death of the Clintons.
I do not want Obama because he said he was against this war to begin with. That is an absolutely insane remark, and after 9/11!! By all accounts, he looks to be the Democratic contender we’ll be stuck with, especially with Iran’s leader stating that the goal of that country was to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, and all Christians along with it. So now we are sitting ducks for this insane man and someone had better take care to do something first or we will be looking at a nuclear holocaust and the world will be changed forever. Civilization will be destroyed forever and I do wish my fellow countrymen would wake up to that fact. Hiroshima and Nagasaki was just a fire cracker compared to what we are facing. I think it will eventually happen no matter what but I hope it won’t be in my lifetime or in the lifetime of my family.
Bin Laden was betting that we would not strike back after 9/11 and told all the terrorists that we would not. He counted on someone like Bill Clinton and why not? Bill Clinton was a proven failure as far as defending us. I am a Texan by birth and I can tell you that is not something any Texan would sit still for. People made fun of our President because he said something to the effect of the old saying "Wanted Dead or Alive" and if ever anything was truth, that was it. Instead, we had someone like John Kerry who could not do anything but run our military down and Goofy-Ass Gore who had his own paid protector as he took pictures in Vietnam, and called that active duty. I am sick of that kind of stuff. So it does look like we might have John McCain as the Republican candidate. He said he would follow Bin Laden to the gates of hell, and that, dear reader is the number one issue. Otherwise, nothing else will count.
As far as the economy is concerned, it is the fault of the lenders and the borrowers. The Bible says to be neither one. At one time, as a single woman, making my own living, I had no credit cards and just a couple of charge accounts and those nearly did me in. Be careful, very careful what you charge. Credit is something that has doomed too many for us to ignore the swift downfall that it can cause. Jerry and I have nothing new to our name including cars, televisions, etc. We also do not owe one dime to anyone anywhere. This, dear reader is true happiness.

Virgie Bell's View: Serving up heads....
I thought my life had gone into a nose dive once again. I had been reading a book that was not holding the usual fascination for me. Perhaps because it is a story revolving around Venice and Denmark, and it could be that I don't know enough about that part of the world to relate. It turns out that De'on bought me a paperback for a "sick present"—a tradition in this family. You might skip Christmas or birthdays with this group, but hell hath no fury like if you miss a sick present. My Mom was always right there with a sick present. Then just the other day De'on brought me a used book by Michael Creighton and I zipped through both of these giftys. One concerned World War 2 and the other was about the medical establishment. I loved the subjects and loved the books. Finished the Creighton book last night. Thank you, De'on.
Well, Ted Kennedy just endorsed Obama for President and the crowd is going wild. Caroline Kennedy is joining in the endorsement. Well big Whoo Whee! It has about the same effect that Bill lends to Hillary's, the buddies of Hugo Chavez, and those Hollywood loons. I would like to caution all those who read this post to very carefully keep in mind our vital interest in the Middle East. Let no one fool you; they are the number one issue. The War on Terror is the most important issue we have. It always has been and has never ceased to be. I am pretty much in the know of World War 2; I know little about World War 1, a little bit about the Civil War, Korea, Vietnam and the list goes on.
The Bible states clearly that there will be wars and rumors of wars until the very end of time. We are really to pay no attention to those who shout peace, peace when there is no peace. Well the Democratic candidates are all shouting peace and I sure don't see any of that anywhere in this old world. Here is another little tidbit to ponder about the Middle East: its vast supply of oil. An oil rich area is and has always been a target area for the rest of the world. It is now and it will be in the future. For us to believe that we can farm our way out of it is an illusion and nothing more. In the first place, we are facing a crisis with the water situation the world over. Of course there is no infinite supply of fossil fuels.
China and Russia have joined with Iran in helping to establish that country as a nuclear power. Now Greg sees McCain as too much of a liberal for his taste. I did not like McCain’s take on illegal immigration, but then I was completely put-out with the President on it too. A grassroots movement with 80% of the American population coming against them on this put a stop, or rather slowed down, this political suicide movement. We want closed, sealed, and secure borders and we want the flow of immigration to be where those that obey the laws of our immigration system become legal citizens.
A Suburban vehicle was pulled over because of missing lights and low and behold, there were 14 illegal immigrants on their way to the East Coast. One was wanted for murder here in the USA. How many of the 500 trucks from Old Mexico hold Illegals and are traveling our highways and byways with government approval? We are the voters and our vote is the life’s blood of the politician. We need to understand also that there truly is a block of voters comprised of whites, blacks, and Latino’s. None of these hold a majority in numbers anymore. Those who are the concerned will be right in the voting booth and nothing will stop them. Those who are concerned but would rather find fault with the people’s choice will ever be too busy to vote. Each person needs to decide just what issue is the most important to them and it really should not be a race-based or gender based decision. It should be an absolute priority vote for those who wish to keep us safe from our many enemies. China and Russia were our allies in World War 2. They now want our heads on a platter. The Islamic Extremist wants to serve that same head on that platter. I will support the Republican candidate that is finally chosen for that ticket for I cannot with a clear conscious support the contenders of the Democratic Party. I want to remain a free nation under God with life, liberty, and justice for all. That means keeping our country safe from enemies both foreign and domestic. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Virgie Bell's View: PORK, corn, and Peanut Heads
So Obama won in South Carolina with heavy voting done for him by the Black Voter. Like Karen, I am very leery of this man. He said that he was against the war in Iraq from the very beginning and I wonder just what he can do to prove that. He has absolutely no record on anything whatsoever. We have a record of him only of being “Present” at every meeting when the Senate convenes and that’s it…really a shame. After all, that's the reason they hold that office and are in the nations Capitol to start with. That is what they receive pay and the golden opportunity for Pork and yet Barack Obama has no record as far as what he even believes. Talk the talk yet refuse to walk the walk doesn't sound like good strategy to me. Then again, you can also look at it another way. How can you really find fault with nothing? He is arrogant beyond words. Truly, he is the most arrogant candidate that has run in my lifetime. Rumor had it that he finally attended a church with a mostly white congregation this Sunday, so it would seem that he does know this race does indeed exist, but he has not shown one little interest in us.
As far as the Latin Block of votes, forget it. That particular little problem could be accomplished with a Vice President with Hispanic origins. I know one raring to go. Anyway, it is something to think about. Then of course, there is the Bill Factor. Bubba is showing his rear by flying off the handle so much with the press. He has a mean streak he was able to hide for only so long. I heard him declare hotly that he did not care a rip about what might be said about him, but when it comes to those he loves, blah, blah, blah. At this point, all I can say is, the Clintons deserve each other.
Then we must deal with the poor in spirit, those who feel your pain. I lived in poverty too, John Edwards. The favorite son from South Carolina even lost his home state. When you do that, it’s usually a death knoll in politics. There is always the other prize though. You can always go to Hollywood and get an Oscar. As I said before, Politics and Hollywood have ruined my life. I joined a DVD club this week. Jerry and I will be watching Winds of War with that hunk Robert Mitchum. We will watch War and Remembrance and after that Exodus, Mila 18, The Caine Mutiny, and Dr. Zhivago, and the beauty of it all is that I don't know which Party they embraced. What a blasted relief.

Virgie Bell's View: Bag Lady
I wonder if everyone gets as tired of the absolute bull that goes on in politics as I do. I realize that I keep up with that kind of stuff more than most people. This also proves I need to get a life, as the saying goes. It is absolutely the hardest thing to find a subject that does not involve these same old wind-bags.
Thinking back, politics has ruined what little life I had. I used to love to go to the movies, and politics has ruined that. I was a great admirer of Barbra Streisand. Incredible voice, wonderful actress, yet she can't keep her mouth shut about her political ideas and telling mere mortals how we should vote. Now, admittedly, she has much more inside information than poor little me. I never got to sleep in The Lincoln Bedroom (with or without the Pres is still to be determined). Sleeping with the Pres for Barbra types was more or less like S&H Green Stamps back then; they came with the purchase. I loved those stamps. I drooled over all the stuff in those catalogs. De'on and I used to go to the redemption center in Littlefield. In fact my hard sided Samsonite Luggage came from there. Big pieces, little pieces, hat boxes and shoe toters. Thing is, I never got to take a trip to use them. S&H Green Stamps did not give trips.
I saved those stamps for years and when I saw that Marlboro gave trips as well as luggage, I felt things were looking up for me. Jerry and I filled an entire closet full of empty packages in order to try to look healthy and wealthy a la Marlboro Man. Of course, hard Samsonite luggage was a joke by then. Here I stood at the baggage claim and everyone else had these soft very used luggage things and slung them over their shoulder and took off lickity-split to the busy lives they rushed to. Here I stood in high heels and pantyhose, dressed to the nines and I actually heard snickers about that. When I stepped forward to claim that new hard-shell Samsonite, the crowd openly jeered. I even caught some Japanese tourists taking pictures. I was never so embarrassed in my life. You can see then, dear reader, why I felt Marlboro Luggage was a life saver for me. No more pale blue suitcases, but bright red, and so here I go with the in-bunch...those hardies that wouldn't be caught dead in pantyhose. It was denim for me and the smoking crowd...we really are more fun anyway. Then wouldn't you know we became the slugs and worms of the proper crowd. Well, by now, I did realize what I should do as far as luggage in Baggage Claim. Things like massive beat-up tote bags and hearty backpacks with ratty looking jeans and T-Shirts which proclaimed some message to someone somewhere and in effect saying, “Up your nose with a rubber hose." and “ I quit smoking." and there I stood in clean Levis and polished Ropers. Might as well have had on a tee shirt that said “I shoot whales and kick puppies and I smoke cigarettes.” It was the same thing. The entire same thing.
A one-time First Lady of New Mexico declared the Capitol Building a No Smoking area. She said, “I am a mother and this is about children.” This means, I suppose, that I kick babies as well as puppies. She was younger than me but died a few years ago. This, after the governor broke up with her for a squeeze who didn't give two hoots and a holler about anything on two legs that didn't climb some summit somewhere. The ex-Governor cried in public and proclaimed, “I have lost my best friend.” Best friend. Huh!
Finally, I give it all up and get a motor home. Then I find out Ms. Streisand tools around town in her motor home in order to avoid a public restroom while our motor home can be seen in the free parking area at the Hospital of the Week. We are almost the latest craze. Smokers who have out lasted everyone else are despised for the very fact that we did not embrace trees but supported tobacco farmers. This is a political world and the movies offer no escape. You know what. I really hate Barbra Streisand for contributing to my misery. I hate Oprah for telling us how to vote. I just hate this season, don't you?

Virgie Bell's View: Fashion and other failures
Hillary Rodham Clinton's "Fashion Statement" if elected PresidentAre they completely insane or what? Joe Kennedy is praising Hugo Chavez for giving poor people in the US cheaper gas and oil. I don't remember which Kennedy this one belongs to, but I know one thing, the Democratic Party will have to turn their back on this one. Yoo-Hoo Joe. Hugo has a hero and that hero is Fidel Castro. You remember him. He’s the one who allowed a missile launch pad in his country in order to blow the USA off the face of the earth by the Soviet Union. I think we are going to have to admit that the Kennedy's time has come and gone. I used to just love them, but what a joke that turned out to be, what with the children of JFK and RFK and the rest turning into clones of Uncle Edward, who shares the name and that is all.
As I remember, Edward Kennedy never was anything but a stage prop in the distant background, and now he is Papa to the whole misguided bunch. I noticed Caroline doing an article or two every now and then and admittedly John-John was the dream boat of the entire world. The rest of them seem to share a funny jawbone and a great lack of practical sense. If it was me, I would try to hide under the radar rather than associate myself with such a bunch of losers. If anyone really believes that any of them lose any sleep over the plight of the poor anywhere in the whole entire world, then all I can say is, grow up. All the children of the Kennedy's turned out to be misfits, druggies, rapists and alcoholics, with the exception of JFK's children. Not that I fool myself one bit about the beginning of this clan. Papa Joe made his fortune in booze when prohibition was on and had some little squeeze from Hollywood for creature comforts. He was a tough, mean old bird, but even now, the younger generation puts him to shame. Children of Legends do not usually do too well and after one got away with the rape deal, I decided I was no longer going to fall prostrate at the Kennedy alter.
I will always admire JFK. As I have said before, if those walls in the Oval Office could talk, what a story they could tell. Marilyn Monroe would beat Lewinsky by a long slide. Then again, Jackie O oozed class while Hillary just oozes out from the waist on down. If Hillary gets into the White House, I wonder if the woman of the world will find anything to copy from her style as we did Jackie’s. If so, then say good-bye to dresses, jeans and shorts. Pantsuits, pantsuits, pantsuits. Come on Hillary, give us a break.

Virgie Bell's View: THE Family Feud
Hollywood Great Thinker Hilary Swank: "After all even if we believe in a different God, inside, we all just want to be loved and to love."I really wish I knew more and could come to some understanding of the crisis that exists in the Middle East. Anyone can go back to the very beginning of civilization and the same thing was always going on. The one thing most of us have learned is to not get embroiled in a family feud and make no mistake; this is exactly what this really is. These different countries have been at it for years and if the Bible is to be believed, it will remain so until the very end of time. I believe the books written by Herman Wouk are an absolute requirement to getting at least a little light shed on the whole situation. Many people refuse to read fiction at all. I have an aunt who feels it a waste of time and I disagree with her assessment.
All things written are just someone else's view and that view belongs to the writer of non-fiction as well. History is just a personal opinion which is recorded. Had the USA lost in World War 2, trust me; English would not be the official language in my country. I would not have been reading books by a Jewish author and I certainly would not be recommending them to others. I would be joining the rest of the world in Jew-bashing. If however, one maintains that the Bible is truly the Word of God, one might be more than a little hesitant to engage in such a practice. Israel is the Promised Land, and as such, it comes complete with a destiny, a beginning, an end.
I can't keep from hitting on my Hollywood Knuckle Heads and the instant wisdom gained with receiving an Academy Award. Hilary Swank is the latest bubble head to be popping-off on something she knows absolutely nothing about, but this does not keep her from becoming an expert on the Middle East dilemma. In a few words, she solves the whole situation, one that has not had any solution in the recorded past or foreseeable future. I refer to her quote: "After all even if we believe in a different God, inside, we all just want to be loved and to love." I think it would be a really good idea for these Hollywood Pin Heads to stay far away from such a statement. How quaint, how incredibly stupid, and why am I even wasting time reviewing anything Ms. Swank has to say about any subject whatsoever. Perhaps it is because I can now relate to ditsy dames who love attention. Dames like Nancy Pelosi. I would like to set the record straight to all of the rest of the world: Ms. Swank, Ms. Pelosi, Ms. Streisand, and even Mr. Streisand, do not represent the view of the American Woman, much less the fact that there is no Different God. If she really believes that little statement, she needs to take it to that tall bearded Taliban Leader hiding in a cave somewhere along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Convince him.... If you come away with your head intact, then I will listen. Until then, I will forever be amazed that all of mankind though out history has failed to grasp this little concept, but then, what else is new? Different Gods? Bite your tongue.

Virgie Bell's View: Finger Foods
Oh My Gosh! Hillary Clinton has gained weight!
If Hillary Clinton were a cat, this cat would look like that!Well gag and double gag. Just got through reading an article in some magazine that my friend Peggy brought me. It was Ladies Home Journal with Elizabeth Edwards doing a little something about “What I have learned About Life, Love and Happiness.” If "KEN DOLL" Edwards really acted this way in public then I am glad he will soon be out of the running. "He took my hand from across the table and kissed each finger tip as he has always done...it was if we were the only people in the room." Puke, puke. If Jerry were to take my hand and kiss each finger tip, I would think he had completely lost all sense and sensibility and would rush to get him out of the room before he flashed his u-know-what. Now John Edwards is cute, no argument there, but of all the phonies running, he is far and away the cutest which begs the question why did he marry such an Ugly Betty type. Same question to Bill about Hill. Go figure. Oh from the neck up, they are Hotties, from there down, forget it. There are certain women that are neither fat nor thin. Otto called them just funny-shaped, meaning some just have no pattern to go by to start with. No, of course they cannot help it, but still, I would have about as much fantasy of them in a setting of romance as say...well, Rosie. A dog is a dog, you know?

Virgie Bell's View: Just good.
I will say up front that I can live with McCain being the candidate for president. Really, any of the Republicans would be alright with me. My neighbor (the one across the street whom I love, not the one next door who took her dog to my front yard to do its doggy-doo) came over the other day. Peggy is a Democrat and I asked her who she would vote for. Her reply..."I don't know. I don't like any of them." So it is not just me being negative. Peggy would be of the Blue Dog Democrat category. It is something to think about. It’s when you go into the voting booth and have to choose the candidate that you don't like the least. This is a sad commentary of how far down we have to scrape the barrel. But even with all the goings-on from the candidates, too, it includes the fact that we won’t have to put up with another Clinton. Bill Clinton just doesn't get it that he is no longer the come-back-kid upon his imaginary white horse.
The only thing I have against McCain is his stand for making 12,000,000 illegals into citizens. In the paper today, I learned that President Bush signed into law the bill that allows truckers from Mexico to haul products all over our country. I am ready for Bush to go if he can ignore a grass roots movement who absolutely has vetoed this very thing. I do not have any complaints about how hard he has had to fight Gushy-Pooh Pelosi and all her little minions when it comes down to the dealing with the War on Terror. The rest of the stuff doesn't matter too much, correction, doesn't matter at all if we lose that, because then we are gone baby gone, we are history, kaput. If Iran gets a nuclear bomb, their illustrious leader has already said he would get rid of the Christians and Jews and the whole state of Israel. Nuclear does not cherry pick the Atheists, They are toast too. The good side is that they will find out if there truly is a God. The bad news is that it will be too late.
I do not trust Obama's Muslim background. Make no mistake, it is there. It is just like the white side of his family tree—it is so well hidden that it is just as if it never happened. I give Oprah points for him winning in Iowa, but in the end, her recommendation means nothing to me or others like me. I don't know if it hurts my reputation or not that I pay no attention to her. I also have never watched the Sopranos, or Sex and the City. Their message is either beneath me or way over my head, you choose. Recent tests have shown that we are doing a great big disservice to our children to let them set in front of a TV, listen to loud music, etc. It is just as harmful as second-hand smoke but we have latched on to that one like Jaws.
Nothing is more exhilarating than to feel superior and there is nothing more boring than to listen to someone who has quit smoking, as if all of us smokers were really interested. We really don’t give two hoots and a holler. If you want a real challenge, try smoking in today’s environment. It is a fact that those who have quit smoking are on the booze, tranquilizers, etc. I gave that up long ago. Smokers are un-cool. I have been so un-cool for so much of my life that it doesn't faze me. I do know that it is a proven fact that there are millions who smoke who do not get cancer. There are millions who have never smoked and they do. Same thing for other related diseases. At one time I was on Valium and if you want a real challenge, try quitting that. I went into a coma from quitting cold turkey. I have finally figured out that I just do not have another withdrawal in me. I stay away from alcohol because it is a well known fact that alcohol is an addictive drug. When we lost Aaron, I could have had anything for depression that I wanted, but I made it through without any of it. Figured I had a hard enough time without a withdrawal to look forward to. Oh yes, I gave up smoking for three months because of flesh eating bacteria. Of course I am shunned because of my smoking, much like I shun others who do not smoke but gripe all the time if anyone does in any place in the world while they pop their pills and have their booze.
My neighbor, whom I love, is a very cool person. She is older than me, very active in her Baptist church, and can outwork and outdo me in any way, shape or form. Her husband is a winner too. Sadly, he suffers from congestive heart failure. No one would dream of smoking around him or others like him. We smokers would fight you if you try. We have not checked our brains and humanity at the door. Peggy receives relief from taking care of her husband for a few days every few weeks. He is put in the hospital and she gets to rest from the burden of being a care giver and to get back on her feet. One time when I went over there to visit her while her husband was in the hospital. She said, “Go ahead and smoke, Thurman is not here,” and I replied that I would love to visit and smoke but could we set outside. I would never dream of putting second-hand smoke in a life like that. I have too much respect for the absolute dignity of such a person.
The editor of this blog has been taking heat for choosing to go on smoking and she needs to for health reasons. When she lost her son, she was telling our family physician that she didn't even have her mother to smoke with anymore (three months you remember) and he told her to come to his house, for his wife would smoke with her. Some people are really about being kind and understanding no matter what. I will be down and out for a while with my surgery but you can bet Peggy will be bringing meals to my bedside. God bless her, on a fixed income and she still does it, I am going to see that my husband drags in some good thick steaks for them. We share food all the time, Peggy and I.

Virgie Bell's View: You're gonna hate yourself in the morning
Before Iowa Caucus
After Iowa CaucusIt is just the funniest thing how much we really need each other on this blog. Yours truly writes everyday about something and most of it is not very cheerful. This is the idiot season you know, what with the Presidential Campaigners and the constant bull that comes in. You can come in with minus 10 points and still tell everyone just how great the surge in the momentum is and really wonderful it is to be among the top 500 winning with 499 by just a hair. This with a margin of error. Do some people just love to get up early and stay up late to be in one town or another for years? Sleeping in a different bed each night (yes, I know but Bill Clinton does not count). Can power and money really mean that much to some people? But then of course it does. But today I really got a kick out of the comments on the picture with Lisa. I always get a good laugh when Christy sends a joke. Where she finds such funny stuff I don't know and it looks like Ray falls into the same category.
You know my life sucks when the only break I get from dirty politics and head shaving pop tarts is to go have surgery. But that seems to be my life and having it suck big green ones looks to be ahead. Here is the thing...we cannot afford more books for me to read...Ditto, newspapers, magazines and millions of catalogs in the mail. Why do I feel so compelled to look at each page, review each write up, and check prices? Today I have finally figured it out. Everyone who checks out this blog does all the fun stuff and in De’on’s case, fuzzy stuff. It is because that I do the other stuff. I check out the background of some of the ones who long for fame and fortune. To tell the truth I am so stunned that the folks in Iowa would choose Barack Obama, until I look at what they had to choose from. Then I realize that I would have just had to stay at home on this Caucus. It will finally be that I no longer must apologize to you, dear reader, because I would not have been guilty of giving any of them a vote on anything. The most amazing thing to me is that anyone in the whole world would vote for them on anything. Well, OK I would vote for John Edwards to be on a chain gang. Stuff like that. Sure...anyone with a lick of sense would do that. But vote for a man who refuses to salute the United States Flag? No way. But I have read his stuff so many times even I am sick of it.
The issue today would be why Huckabee? I don't mean anything by that except I have a problem understanding why a Baptist Preacher would even consider running for the highest office in the world. Have you really ever thought about how corrupt the world of politics is? Winston Churchill said once that the truth was too precious without having it buffered with lies all around. This was in preparing for the Normandy invasion. A corpse was taken out of the morgue, dressed in military garb with false papers in his pocket about how the invasion was somewhere besides Normandy.
Deception and propaganda are part of the rules to win a war. I have said that I think the wealthy and the highly educated should be right up there in that world, the other half of us just want to watch the play-offs, take painting lessons, or read. There are also those who get tattoos and shave their heads and wouldn't be caught dead in a voting booth. It has nothing to do with race either. There are just some things we will not do. We will not vote for anyone whom Sean Penn recommends. We will not give Hugo Chavez a little kiss on the cheek. Just some things are beneath us. Now the poll numbers for the Democratic Party were way higher than for the Republicans. It is still that same old silent majority. Some people just want to vote, they like another little holiday. They would love a Happy Monday. And Tuesday Appreciation day. Then some are like me. Who needs to go and change parties on paper? It is that old voting booth that counts and what you do there. Your vote and nothing else out of you for four more years. Here is the thing. We have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince. Now I really do believe that the public is much smarter than we are given credit for. I really do.
I have voted for one Sunday school teacher and what a joke that was. The most I got was the excitement of watching Brother Billy drink beer. While on the side, I got to watch our Embassy Workers held captives by Iran for over a year while my President sat on the sidelines and sold the Peoples Yacht. The only blasted one that ever was mine and ours. As I said before, the garage sale President. Yuck. Again I am sorry dear reader, because I was loyal to my party and not to my country. Now neither party can hold my foot to the fire. Not anymore. I will have a wait and see attitude before I pull that plug on the life support device of my country. If I had to vote for Obama, then I would feel that I had done just that.

Virgie Bell's View: 'Save the World' and as our way of saying thanks, get a free lead toy from China!!
Ellen Goodman - Liberal Puppet on a Pedestal of Putrid PuttyI am very sorry about the assassination of Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan. She was very aware this could happen and still she went to the country where she was born in order to bring democracy and a separation of government and religion, which, as noted, does not fly in that part of the world. You know as much about this action as I, therefore, I will leave the subject until we all know who did this dastardly deed, killing another 20 people in the process.
Ellen Goodman has been at it again and as I wrote just a week or so ago, she has got to be the most ignorant and indeed most un-American woman on the top side of this earth. She is an avowed Atheist, which of course is her right, but I am really sick and tired of her spouting off and falling down worshiping Al Gore. As I have stated in the past, most of the stuff spouted off by Al Gore is trivial crap and not even remotely on target. He has never been noted as a scholar, a scientist, or expert in any field and yet he has this large following. He was and is nothing more than I am and that is someone who knows a little bit about a lot of things and not much about anything. The difference being, I am not a danger to anyone as far as my knowledge and beliefs are concerned.
There is not enough money in the entire world to make me want to be a political figure, or even a public figure. I treasure peace and quiet above all things. I do not in any way desire a platform about anything more than our little Blog. It is read by some of my family and many military supporters, those who stand by our troops through thick and thin. As noted before, I come from a military background and we are a very patriotic family. We have little use for those who put something ahead of our nation’s protection against terrorism and tyranny, one that generation after generation of sons and daughters have given life or limb for. All wars are fought against enemies both foreign and domestic. They have always been about terror and they shall always be. Simply put, terror is extreme fear, and we have all experienced it.
When I was a little girl in California I got a good and righteous mad-on about something or another and decided to run away from home. I had made it about a half a block when I heard this step, slide, step, slide behind me. It was the Mummy's Tombstone come to life and I set a world record getting back inside my house. It was of course my dear brothers who were doing the step, slide, step slide. This was at night fall but as I ran past my brothers to get back safely, I could have sworn that it was two mummies with white grave cloth bindings floating eerily behind them. It was just that real to me. Anyone who says they have never experienced fear is a liar or else has the intelligence of a door knob. Being a believer in God, and also believing the Holy Bible to be the word of God, I know that fear is sometimes for the good. Who among us has not had to experience that a fire burns? Talk about hot all you want to. Each of us has to discover the fact for ourselves. My mother said that when my younger brother was just little that he wanted a bite of her hot pepper sauce and put up a huge howl for a rare treat that was being kept from him. She explained over and over again. My grandmother told her to just go ahead and give him a taste...viola...he discovered what a hot pepper was. We all have to find our own level of understanding. Our own level of acceptance.
Ellen Goodman has found herself to be among those that are far smarter than the rest of us. She said in today’s column that she didn't know why anyone would be upset about lead in toys that are imported from China after Al Gore has tried to warn us with global warming and we continue to ignore him. Here is my answer to this puzzling dilemma she finds herself in. Because lead is 100% poison you dumb ass....

Virgie Bell's View: Skank!
The one columnist I simply cannot stand is just an absolute idiot. I had thought so before, but now she has proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Her name is Ellen Goodman. She is a staunch liberal and the only thing she hates more than God and country is the Republican Voter. People like her absolutely make my blood boil and it really burns me up that there are people as really stupid as she actually is, still is, and is still published in the newspaper. In her column today she makes fun...FUN...of the presidential candidates for the GOP. With a line up for those on the Democrat ticket, where does this broad get off? Get real. Sure, the Republicans suffered the blow of Tricky Dickey, but that was high crimes in high places. It is called being a politician and getting caught as the real you.
What about old What’s-his-name caught drunk on a boat with the blonde on his lap and a bongo drum between his knees? Gary Hart, that's it. Old Gary dares the press, dares and double dares them to follow him around and find just one personal flaw and WHAM.... Or what about old Bill Clinton and the naughty intern, the most popular subject for the century? Is ...or is not... Oral Sex...Sex? The Clinton form of Shakespeare. To be or not to be. Pure poetry that one. He led this nation with the ability of his dumbstick.
Ms. Goodman is really very serious, she takes herself seriously and spouts off accordingly in her column. She makes fun of the thrice married Giuliani who can't get past 9/11. The party she lauds is the one that embraces gay marriage, abortion on demand, and letting every illegal from everywhere have more rights than an American Citizen has. She looks down on a man who is not married to his high school sweetheart. Ms. Goodman is the prime example of the pot calling the kettle black. Before Anna Nicole Smith’s tragic death, she wrote a column for the inquiring mind and its rag sheet. She gave advice on successful living to those who wrote in and asked. She has the intelligence of a dust ball. We are the poor saps who need advice when the most scathing thing she can come up with is that we should get over 9/11. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the opera? Can you believe that?

Virgie Bell's View: Color Me Blue
Jessica Simpson - A Jaguar without a MotorTwas a bummer yesterday. My team, The Dallas Cowboys, lost and then every time I looked they had to show Jessica Simpson in the stands. I don't need this kind of treatment. No-longer-lookers do not need to be reminded that they have gone over the hill, so to speak, with the likes of Jessica pushing them over faster. Some of us just know in our hearts we are still up and running, and then boom.... TV has a way of stuffing reality down your throat. So yes it was a bummer. I just wonder if Tony Romo knows that yes, Jessica Simpson is a Jaguar, but lacks a motor under the hood. I, of course, could use some body work on the Old Jag, but then the motor is still working and in mint condition. I had told Kayla (who is a Jaguar with a new motor) that I wanted her to go after this Romo Hunk and that she could live with us. I guess that is not in the cards though.
The Cowboys had one injury after another and it was one of those games that every thing just seemed off. If they knew just how much I have cheered them on before this game they would realize that they need the fans like me instead of us setting in the old rocker doing a slow burn. Oh well...... I had a friend that was the same way about some rock star and she was jealous of Cher and it took away from the true spirit of being a rabid fan. If we cannot have him in our family then I would hope he had the good judgment to pick someone like the other Bush twin or someone similar.
There has been much made of the letters from Princess to Darling Dodi this last week and it appears such that Jag had a motor that was in less than mint condition. I read the book by Kitty Kelly titled Royals about how under educated the royal family really was and Camilla proved this to be so very true. I guess this is just the way of the world. All the world is truly a stage and it is my duty to now be in charge of raising the curtain and the job sucks.
There’s not usually much going on when the Cowboys play as far as politics goes, or at least it is just background noise, but I did notice that Hillary’s deemed to do an appearance for Fox News. She did manage the old cackle again. If she does get the nomination for her party, one would hope she did not find many things humorous, or she can say sayonara to another stint in the White House. In a pinch, she could rely on old gushy-poo to teach her how not to bring that horrid and scary laugh onto the world stage. That is going to be very important or we are in very big trouble. I’ll be very glad when we do settle on the two candidates for our president, and then we can finally know who will be the running mate for each. Vice President is still a very important job as far as I am concerned. It will be more or less not very newsy from now until after Christmas as the candidates will finally get busy with something other than telling us how much they despise our troops as old John Murtha is wont to do. Oh yes, on a final note, The Reverend Al Sharpton has been found to have been doing some yucky deals with unsavory sorts and a little stealing from us taxpayers. Imus is back on the air now and this might give him a little ammo to return to the old Reverend. Hope your Sunday was better than mine. Blah, Jessica Simpson.

Virgie Bell's View: Silent is the Season...except for Hill....
"Old Thunder Thighs," and Why She Has Them
Hillary "Thunder Thighs" makes the Menu Special at KFCIt’s not surprising that Hillary is not doing well in New Hampshire and Iowa. They have had the privilege of her up close and personal and she can’t pass the test. Old thunder thighs could be accepted except for the Old Wicked Witch of the West Cackle, which is utterly chilling. You almost expect her to wring her hands and say, "And now my Little Pretty"....If Bubba can't pull it off for her, she can't do it. She actually has no real experience except as First Lady, and this of course puts a whole new meaning to... first... if you get my drift.
I asked my sister yesterday who was her choice. She is the only Democrat beloved by me and we had a hard time coming up with a good one. We decided we are for whoever is not so stupid that they call death by lethal injection cruel and unusual punishment. We are both getting on in years and wishing God would see fit to give us the old injection of falling asleep and just never waking up. We both agreed that John Cooey would have missed that little stick in the arm if he had messed with us. No, he would have been buried alive after a good old beating. Some of the stuff that passes for politics and rights are just too stupid for words. It is a good thing our parents have passed on at this time for they would have no doubt been in jail if someone told them how to raise us kids. Looking back at my family, I fail to see where they were wrong. Trust me; these parents knew how to maintain discipline, and they learned this from their parents.
I realize that I have been letting my fans down by not mentioning “Darling Britney.” The mother of the year has been named to star in NOW GET THIS...as Mary in the movie or play titled Sweet Baby Jesus. I can think of a hundred who would have been a better choice, but this is a French production, and as we all know, everyone loves every moment of the year in Paris, and even Britney is loved by them. And of course, she will help the wine industry and the ever important bottom line. I’m getting ready for some eggnog. Not the kind with liquor in it. Just the store bought stuff will do. De'on and I don't do the hard stuff and we really don't like to see anyone else having a better time than we have.
As for the season of Christmas, I noticed yesterday we are still fighting over the Christmas displays in the bigger cities. I am so glad I was raised in an earlier time. No one even thought anything about wishing someone a Merry Christmas. Now you just as well call someone a SOB, which I find terribly, terribly sad. I saw the big sign outside the Junior College nearest us and it said, Bright Holidays. I feel that we have lost so much with all of this political correctness.
I took the test on AOL to see how I would do on the lyrics and felt I would ace that test at least. Well I got five and five. It seems that Silent Night and the Bethlehem songs do not even merit being listed. They are: Rocking ‘Round the Christmas Tree, Rudolph, and Santa. The real purpose has been left out. I sang all my life and was just a small child within a large choir in California when I learned the word to all of the old songs. I was right there when Bing Crosby sang White Christmas. I like all of the other Christmas songs but I cherish Silent Night and Little Town of Bethlehem. We had a full orchestra there too.... Of everything, I really miss the music of this season. It is the saddest time of the year to be hearing impaired.

Virgie Bell's View: Outrage of the Aliens of the Illegal Sort

I cannot believe the outraged people in Roswell, NM. Outrage is one thing but demanding rights you don’t have are quite another! I’m speaking of the pregnant teenaged girl at school who was deported and others that probably should be are screaming for their rights.
If I went to school and committed a traffic violation while going to my classes, I would expect the officer in charge of watching out for my school to target me as a violator. In fact, if he did not, I would know immediately that he was not doing the job for which he is being paid, and paid by our tax dollars. He would expect me to carry my driver’s license. A driver’s license and insurance are mandatory or at least they should be. As far as dealing with me in a small town this officer could take me at my word that I have left them at home but will bring it the next day. If I did not, then it would be up to the officer in question to see that I had a clean record and the only way would be to start at the beginning of this legal procedure. In this case, with my status, that would have to be the immigration. Laws of the United States are kept by a paper trail. This is the law to protect the people of my country. It is my assurance that I am indeed surrounded by my fellow citizens. The most basic being part of a neighborhood watch committee. We cannot hope for our local law enforcement to be everywhere at all times.
For a democracy that is of the people, by the people, and for the people, there are the rules of a civilized society. These are the basic laws that wars are fought over and where the blood of my countrymen has been shed...above all things...these things. The foundation of any nation cannot hope to exist otherwise. It takes no rocket scientist to figure the way something like this works. Others are depending on you to do your part so this officer can take care of our most precious treasure, our American children.
We pay to see to our children’s safety at school. We tax payers expect this to be enforced. We do not want our children to sit in classrooms with those who do not belong here legally. It is not a hide out for a pregnant girl carrying a baby. In the Middle East, this is a favored deceptive way for a person to carry a bomb. At any rate, it is the law and I expect my country and its laws to be treated with respect. We have immigration laws in place and these laws are in existence because a certain number of people from other countries come here to become legal and law abiding citizens. They do not need to go through a certain processing while someone else takes it upon themselves to skip all laws and then demand the rights that someone else is entitled—and no racial or religious organization has the right to circumvent these laws. I was born and raised in this country.
80% of the American people said we wanted secure borders. We want secure schools and we fully and rightfully expect our officers to enforce these laws. The girl had no home address and no one that we could contact if she needed someone in case of an emergency; but first and foremost, she broke the laws of this country. Just go on back to wherever you came from and make your government do your bidding and don't try to tell us, the American public, what we should do until your tax dollar chips in. If you are green, yellow, black or the color purple, if you are white, red, or brown and proud. Just make sure you are legal with a respect for us and our laws.

Virgie Bell's View: Defining Moment for Oprah
Oprah lied, Virgie Mom. Oprah actually endorsed one other person before her endorsement of Barack Obama. I am adding the picture of that historic endorsement to your fine essay.
Here is Oprah Winfrey with Michael Jackson.
_____________________
Sometimes it seems wonders will never cease and the Oprah push for Obama is just one of them. We should be thrilled this has turned out the way it has for just one reason. The reason is very good news for the American voter because the reading I would take from this is that the general population has more intelligence than we are given credit for. The celebrity must believe the hype that surrounds her—on-stage proclaiming, “This is the first endorsement I have ever made in my life!” Well, big wow! Do you know that as I set here at my ancient computer, far from cute, far from rich with absolutely no fame whatsoever and if the thought ever crossed my mind as to what Ms., Miss, whatever she calls herself, would endorse for president. It’s like this. She is what she is what she is. An en-ter-tainer, that’s it and nothing more. Rich, rich, rich, and not much else.
I wouldn’t trade my life, so notably dull and ordinary by any standard, for any portion of her life. Rich doesn't cut it for me. It would be nice I’m sure, but at some time one has to accept that ‘naked we came into this world and naked we will leave it.” To be able to rise from a life of poverty yet go out rich is failure for me. Let’s examine Ms. Winfrey's life and do so factually. She was a poor girl, a minority, had a teenaged pregnancy, gave the baby up, or aborted it—I don’t know on that.
Fact two: big problem with weight. It defines her above all things. The women of our country, in fact the men and children in our country face a similar problem. Oprah Winfrey has been like a yo-yo. She has done more to hurt the overweight people than any individual. The yo-yo syndrome is the worst hazard overweight people can have. If you lose five pounds in a couple of weeks and then gain six pounds in a couple of weeks, you gain back your normal weight, plus a bonus of a pound or fraction thereof, this bonus becomes a lifetime gift. On and on and on and so you have problems. So Oprah has taken a national problem that we can alll participate in. The latest most wonderful diet is a personal chef who knows how to cook low calorie. Right there is the break. Oprah knows how to promote Oprah. She is not ashamed to pull a little red wagon full of—fat—in front of a studio audience and report, “This disgusting pile of fat is what I have carried around with me and am now rid of.” As the load of fat increases so does the size of the wagon.
I can tell you, Oprah should not have a book club. The reason being that she can in no way claim to be an expert in reading. She simply does not have time. I should not have a book club and believe me I put in more time reading than anyone I know. But I read what I like to read and it is for whatever interest I have. I am a news junky. I am a political junky, a Dallas Cowboy junky and I love Texas. Does this strike a longing in you to be more like me? Duh? Of course not. Why should it? Simple truth is, it should not. I adore the talent of Tony Romo. I have not seen that since Staubach. But it all boils down to the team that goes along sharing success. Staubach wore the number twelve on his jersey. Romo wears number nine. Staubach’s small son wears the number nine. The greatest moment is just for the moment. The Oprah moment is just that. It is a bad thing career wise to believe all the hype about one’s self when the defining moment of your entire life is a wagon of fat. I used to take the magazine and I remember Oprah being in a full page ad in the same slick copy. She was posing as a cheesecake. Not nude, but as close to sexy as she will ever get, and when I saw this advertisement and my mind flashed to that moment: the Oprah moment...the one with the wagon..... Yep...she is rich.

Virgie Bell's View: Starry Eyed
Oprah "$$$$$" Winfrey - Selling herself
Barbra Streisand - whining and opiningThe stars came out in politics yesterday, and of course, I listened and watched as Oprah made big issue of the fact that it was the first time in her whole entire life she had ever endorsed a candidate. This all is just great as far as it goes. I do remember right after 9/11 when she was asked by the President to support our country in a show of support and her reply was that she had a show and a career to attend to. On that day, my opinion for her went into the toilet. I mean, there were over three thousand killed on that tragic and horrible day, and she, in her little liberal intolerance, refused to support the American people who had made her rich and famous.
Oprah is a legend in her own time. She represents in every way everything I was taught not to do. I don't know what her education consists of. I do know she has a following that I will never comprehend. Teenaged pregnancy, giving a child up, refusing to be involved in a marriage, yet declaring she is not gay. Black, overweight, she declares she will never diet again as it just does not work, then praises a new diet the next week. I will say that she has been able to go against any and all the rules that have been bedrock of the country I hold so dear. So no, I am no Oprah fan.
The candidate she stands behind has been smart enough to keep his white roots completely hidden, even though he was loved and raised by that part of his heritage. I don’t want anyone on this ticket to win the office of President. One will run for that party, and I do hope it is Obama that comes out on top for his party. Oprah, for all her loud and patriotic talk, still hold s an appeal to a lot of the people who watch those Jerry Springer type shows, and for the most part, are able to show just how ignorant the people of the white race are. She exploits our flaws and when she stands up for someone who is white, it is usually a member of the Hollywood set known for the average fifth grade mentality. No, I am not an Oprah fan, but when it comes to that, then I am more her fan than I am of Barbara Streisand, and certainly more than for the black actor who came out for John Edwards. I helped make Danny Glover rich and famous. He's an admirer of Hugo Chavez, the Castro want-to-be.
Anyone that expected George Bush to come into this war with any great knowledge of how to conduct it should look at the facts. He was a Texas governor, owned a baseball team, and the son of a rich man who was also thrust into a war. The difference in them, the elder Bush did fight for his country when we were bombed at Pearl Harbor. He fought gallantly and he ran Desert Storm and Desert Shield with absolute greatness.
I can say with certainty for our current president is that he did not throw any of his medals over the fence of the White House. No doubt, Dad would have kicked his butt over the moon; no one doubts the patriotism of George the Elder. Ms. Streisand has never been for anyone unless they were for her party, a party that has refused to give our military any backing at all, and one that has called them cold blooded killers of innocent women and children.
Old Dennis Kuchini has Willie Nelson for his backing, but I simply won't give him any credit for anything and just hope he goes home to his hot new love interest until he again runs for president. The result of all this is that I have finally come up with the one that I hope wins the right to run on the Democratic ticket. I guess I will hope for Obama to get that and just maybe he can bring his white family out of the closet, then again, maybe he won't.
