This is a post sent to me at 2:00 PM yesterday. Tardiness is strictly busy editor's fault.
It was just a short sound bite on the news, but it seems dear old Ted Kennedy may have cost Obama some votes. It really comes as no surprise to most of us, and as far as being useful to Hillary, the Come Back Kid is falling by the wayside too.
The turn out for voters on Super Tuesday was remarkable with more turn out than has been shown for years. The voters are really and truly sick to death of the politicians and all of the promises that are made to us and yet never fulfilled. Obama and Clinton are still running neck and neck and I really hate that fact. I wanted Hillary to be the candidate for the simple reason I feel she is beatable at least much more so than Obama.
The thing about Obama is that although he has missed 168 senatorial meetings, the only time he has been led to show an up or down vote, he has used the word present. That is how he has gotten where he is today, with the remarkable achievements of showing up and rendering neither a yes or no vote, except when called upon to cut funding for the troops. He is very much against the War on Terror and wants to pull the troops out of the Middle East. Now I have a big issue with that kind of mindset. Everyone else can swoon over him as if he was the Second Coming, but not me. Fund our military or get off the platform campaigning for their Commander in Chief. You have no right to say either yea or nay as far as I am concerned. The carnage of that September day will forever be stamped on my brain and millions of others just like me. I will never forget and I will never forgive.
There is still much being said about the use of water boarding and I want to make myself clear on that little issue. It scares them. Well big BOO HOO. Scaring someone is now considered cruel and unusual punishment. I think of those three thousand souls caught up in the Twin Towers, I see those poor souls jumping from windows to their death instead of being consumed by fire. Scared the holy hell out of them is all I can say. Read the firsthand accounts of those who survived. How about the blind man coming down the stairway with his Seeing Eye dog? Think he wasn't scared? Think the obedient dog was not scared? Ever watch mans best friend when the fire crackers go off on the July 4th? Multiply that by three thousand. Given a choice, the victims of that horrible day would have begged for water boarding.
McCain is against torture but scaring is not torture. The feeling that you are drowning is scary and if it saves one American life, why do we even care? Perhaps we should just cut off heads as do the terrorists, and on camera. That scares me. The latest recruits for Bin Laden use children as young as 6 years old. They will be sent into the enemies’ camp (into us) as human bombs. It was a favorite trick of the Japanese during World War 2 to take babies and lay them out on the ground for our troops who were dug-in to listen to while they waited for the next attack, knowing these helpless babies were the innocent victims. I talked with an old War Horse Marine who was there and it was his worst nightmare. The thing about war is that it just has two outcomes. Win or lose. Oh, you can surrender in something called ‘peace with honor’ as did old tricky Dick, but really, if you are going to be in war, you need to win the darn thing, and if you are attacked as we were on 9/11 while we were giving Peace A Chance, you are in one before you even know it. Peaceniks make me sick, and really they always have. Our military gives their life’s blood so they can march and scream their heads off and do so unmolested.
I will also voice another complaint about illegal immigration. Once I saw flags from other countries as they demanded rights they are not entitled to they lost me. This is America; we have our own flag and long may it wave. Yesterday I read in the paper where some wise old soul said if we would take the money we will spend on the fence trying to seal the border and send it to Mexico, that the illegals will go flooding back home. Billions of dollars—and send it to old Mexico? We have our own goofy government to pay for. So yeah, I am for McCain. I want to win this war that was declared on us. Just like my parents wanted to win when we were bombed in Pearl Harbor. Yes, the war is costing us no telling how much money. Wars just do. It goes with the very essence of war. We did not start this war and I feel that John McCain has been battle-tested to have his place as the Commander-In-Chief. I love my country and I love my freedom to write this post, so excuse me if I don't get all weepy while someone feels they are drowning. After we lost Aaron, I felt that I was drowning many times, but it was tears. Just to write about it, makes me feel that same thing again. So no, I am not for Obama. I am Virgie Bell...PRESENT. How stupid to use taxpayer money and only vote present. Might as well stay home for all the good you do...present! How silly.

Virgie Bell's View: Serving up heads....
I thought my life had gone into a nose dive once again. I had been reading a book that was not holding the usual fascination for me. Perhaps because it is a story revolving around Venice and Denmark, and it could be that I don't know enough about that part of the world to relate. It turns out that De'on bought me a paperback for a "sick present"—a tradition in this family. You might skip Christmas or birthdays with this group, but hell hath no fury like if you miss a sick present. My Mom was always right there with a sick present. Then just the other day De'on brought me a used book by Michael Creighton and I zipped through both of these giftys. One concerned World War 2 and the other was about the medical establishment. I loved the subjects and loved the books. Finished the Creighton book last night. Thank you, De'on.
Well, Ted Kennedy just endorsed Obama for President and the crowd is going wild. Caroline Kennedy is joining in the endorsement. Well big Whoo Whee! It has about the same effect that Bill lends to Hillary's, the buddies of Hugo Chavez, and those Hollywood loons. I would like to caution all those who read this post to very carefully keep in mind our vital interest in the Middle East. Let no one fool you; they are the number one issue. The War on Terror is the most important issue we have. It always has been and has never ceased to be. I am pretty much in the know of World War 2; I know little about World War 1, a little bit about the Civil War, Korea, Vietnam and the list goes on.
The Bible states clearly that there will be wars and rumors of wars until the very end of time. We are really to pay no attention to those who shout peace, peace when there is no peace. Well the Democratic candidates are all shouting peace and I sure don't see any of that anywhere in this old world. Here is another little tidbit to ponder about the Middle East: its vast supply of oil. An oil rich area is and has always been a target area for the rest of the world. It is now and it will be in the future. For us to believe that we can farm our way out of it is an illusion and nothing more. In the first place, we are facing a crisis with the water situation the world over. Of course there is no infinite supply of fossil fuels.
China and Russia have joined with Iran in helping to establish that country as a nuclear power. Now Greg sees McCain as too much of a liberal for his taste. I did not like McCain’s take on illegal immigration, but then I was completely put-out with the President on it too. A grassroots movement with 80% of the American population coming against them on this put a stop, or rather slowed down, this political suicide movement. We want closed, sealed, and secure borders and we want the flow of immigration to be where those that obey the laws of our immigration system become legal citizens.
A Suburban vehicle was pulled over because of missing lights and low and behold, there were 14 illegal immigrants on their way to the East Coast. One was wanted for murder here in the USA. How many of the 500 trucks from Old Mexico hold Illegals and are traveling our highways and byways with government approval? We are the voters and our vote is the life’s blood of the politician. We need to understand also that there truly is a block of voters comprised of whites, blacks, and Latino’s. None of these hold a majority in numbers anymore. Those who are the concerned will be right in the voting booth and nothing will stop them. Those who are concerned but would rather find fault with the people’s choice will ever be too busy to vote. Each person needs to decide just what issue is the most important to them and it really should not be a race-based or gender based decision. It should be an absolute priority vote for those who wish to keep us safe from our many enemies. China and Russia were our allies in World War 2. They now want our heads on a platter. The Islamic Extremist wants to serve that same head on that platter. I will support the Republican candidate that is finally chosen for that ticket for I cannot with a clear conscious support the contenders of the Democratic Party. I want to remain a free nation under God with life, liberty, and justice for all. That means keeping our country safe from enemies both foreign and domestic. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Virgie Bell's View: PORK, corn, and Peanut Heads
So Obama won in South Carolina with heavy voting done for him by the Black Voter. Like Karen, I am very leery of this man. He said that he was against the war in Iraq from the very beginning and I wonder just what he can do to prove that. He has absolutely no record on anything whatsoever. We have a record of him only of being “Present” at every meeting when the Senate convenes and that’s it…really a shame. After all, that's the reason they hold that office and are in the nations Capitol to start with. That is what they receive pay and the golden opportunity for Pork and yet Barack Obama has no record as far as what he even believes. Talk the talk yet refuse to walk the walk doesn't sound like good strategy to me. Then again, you can also look at it another way. How can you really find fault with nothing? He is arrogant beyond words. Truly, he is the most arrogant candidate that has run in my lifetime. Rumor had it that he finally attended a church with a mostly white congregation this Sunday, so it would seem that he does know this race does indeed exist, but he has not shown one little interest in us.
As far as the Latin Block of votes, forget it. That particular little problem could be accomplished with a Vice President with Hispanic origins. I know one raring to go. Anyway, it is something to think about. Then of course, there is the Bill Factor. Bubba is showing his rear by flying off the handle so much with the press. He has a mean streak he was able to hide for only so long. I heard him declare hotly that he did not care a rip about what might be said about him, but when it comes to those he loves, blah, blah, blah. At this point, all I can say is, the Clintons deserve each other.
Then we must deal with the poor in spirit, those who feel your pain. I lived in poverty too, John Edwards. The favorite son from South Carolina even lost his home state. When you do that, it’s usually a death knoll in politics. There is always the other prize though. You can always go to Hollywood and get an Oscar. As I said before, Politics and Hollywood have ruined my life. I joined a DVD club this week. Jerry and I will be watching Winds of War with that hunk Robert Mitchum. We will watch War and Remembrance and after that Exodus, Mila 18, The Caine Mutiny, and Dr. Zhivago, and the beauty of it all is that I don't know which Party they embraced. What a blasted relief.

Virgie Bell's View: Fashion and other failures
Hillary Rodham Clinton's "Fashion Statement" if elected PresidentAre they completely insane or what? Joe Kennedy is praising Hugo Chavez for giving poor people in the US cheaper gas and oil. I don't remember which Kennedy this one belongs to, but I know one thing, the Democratic Party will have to turn their back on this one. Yoo-Hoo Joe. Hugo has a hero and that hero is Fidel Castro. You remember him. He’s the one who allowed a missile launch pad in his country in order to blow the USA off the face of the earth by the Soviet Union. I think we are going to have to admit that the Kennedy's time has come and gone. I used to just love them, but what a joke that turned out to be, what with the children of JFK and RFK and the rest turning into clones of Uncle Edward, who shares the name and that is all.
As I remember, Edward Kennedy never was anything but a stage prop in the distant background, and now he is Papa to the whole misguided bunch. I noticed Caroline doing an article or two every now and then and admittedly John-John was the dream boat of the entire world. The rest of them seem to share a funny jawbone and a great lack of practical sense. If it was me, I would try to hide under the radar rather than associate myself with such a bunch of losers. If anyone really believes that any of them lose any sleep over the plight of the poor anywhere in the whole entire world, then all I can say is, grow up. All the children of the Kennedy's turned out to be misfits, druggies, rapists and alcoholics, with the exception of JFK's children. Not that I fool myself one bit about the beginning of this clan. Papa Joe made his fortune in booze when prohibition was on and had some little squeeze from Hollywood for creature comforts. He was a tough, mean old bird, but even now, the younger generation puts him to shame. Children of Legends do not usually do too well and after one got away with the rape deal, I decided I was no longer going to fall prostrate at the Kennedy alter.
I will always admire JFK. As I have said before, if those walls in the Oval Office could talk, what a story they could tell. Marilyn Monroe would beat Lewinsky by a long slide. Then again, Jackie O oozed class while Hillary just oozes out from the waist on down. If Hillary gets into the White House, I wonder if the woman of the world will find anything to copy from her style as we did Jackie’s. If so, then say good-bye to dresses, jeans and shorts. Pantsuits, pantsuits, pantsuits. Come on Hillary, give us a break.

Virgie Bell's View: Just good.
I will say up front that I can live with McCain being the candidate for president. Really, any of the Republicans would be alright with me. My neighbor (the one across the street whom I love, not the one next door who took her dog to my front yard to do its doggy-doo) came over the other day. Peggy is a Democrat and I asked her who she would vote for. Her reply..."I don't know. I don't like any of them." So it is not just me being negative. Peggy would be of the Blue Dog Democrat category. It is something to think about. It’s when you go into the voting booth and have to choose the candidate that you don't like the least. This is a sad commentary of how far down we have to scrape the barrel. But even with all the goings-on from the candidates, too, it includes the fact that we won’t have to put up with another Clinton. Bill Clinton just doesn't get it that he is no longer the come-back-kid upon his imaginary white horse.
The only thing I have against McCain is his stand for making 12,000,000 illegals into citizens. In the paper today, I learned that President Bush signed into law the bill that allows truckers from Mexico to haul products all over our country. I am ready for Bush to go if he can ignore a grass roots movement who absolutely has vetoed this very thing. I do not have any complaints about how hard he has had to fight Gushy-Pooh Pelosi and all her little minions when it comes down to the dealing with the War on Terror. The rest of the stuff doesn't matter too much, correction, doesn't matter at all if we lose that, because then we are gone baby gone, we are history, kaput. If Iran gets a nuclear bomb, their illustrious leader has already said he would get rid of the Christians and Jews and the whole state of Israel. Nuclear does not cherry pick the Atheists, They are toast too. The good side is that they will find out if there truly is a God. The bad news is that it will be too late.
I do not trust Obama's Muslim background. Make no mistake, it is there. It is just like the white side of his family tree—it is so well hidden that it is just as if it never happened. I give Oprah points for him winning in Iowa, but in the end, her recommendation means nothing to me or others like me. I don't know if it hurts my reputation or not that I pay no attention to her. I also have never watched the Sopranos, or Sex and the City. Their message is either beneath me or way over my head, you choose. Recent tests have shown that we are doing a great big disservice to our children to let them set in front of a TV, listen to loud music, etc. It is just as harmful as second-hand smoke but we have latched on to that one like Jaws.
Nothing is more exhilarating than to feel superior and there is nothing more boring than to listen to someone who has quit smoking, as if all of us smokers were really interested. We really don’t give two hoots and a holler. If you want a real challenge, try smoking in today’s environment. It is a fact that those who have quit smoking are on the booze, tranquilizers, etc. I gave that up long ago. Smokers are un-cool. I have been so un-cool for so much of my life that it doesn't faze me. I do know that it is a proven fact that there are millions who smoke who do not get cancer. There are millions who have never smoked and they do. Same thing for other related diseases. At one time I was on Valium and if you want a real challenge, try quitting that. I went into a coma from quitting cold turkey. I have finally figured out that I just do not have another withdrawal in me. I stay away from alcohol because it is a well known fact that alcohol is an addictive drug. When we lost Aaron, I could have had anything for depression that I wanted, but I made it through without any of it. Figured I had a hard enough time without a withdrawal to look forward to. Oh yes, I gave up smoking for three months because of flesh eating bacteria. Of course I am shunned because of my smoking, much like I shun others who do not smoke but gripe all the time if anyone does in any place in the world while they pop their pills and have their booze.
My neighbor, whom I love, is a very cool person. She is older than me, very active in her Baptist church, and can outwork and outdo me in any way, shape or form. Her husband is a winner too. Sadly, he suffers from congestive heart failure. No one would dream of smoking around him or others like him. We smokers would fight you if you try. We have not checked our brains and humanity at the door. Peggy receives relief from taking care of her husband for a few days every few weeks. He is put in the hospital and she gets to rest from the burden of being a care giver and to get back on her feet. One time when I went over there to visit her while her husband was in the hospital. She said, “Go ahead and smoke, Thurman is not here,” and I replied that I would love to visit and smoke but could we set outside. I would never dream of putting second-hand smoke in a life like that. I have too much respect for the absolute dignity of such a person.
The editor of this blog has been taking heat for choosing to go on smoking and she needs to for health reasons. When she lost her son, she was telling our family physician that she didn't even have her mother to smoke with anymore (three months you remember) and he told her to come to his house, for his wife would smoke with her. Some people are really about being kind and understanding no matter what. I will be down and out for a while with my surgery but you can bet Peggy will be bringing meals to my bedside. God bless her, on a fixed income and she still does it, I am going to see that my husband drags in some good thick steaks for them. We share food all the time, Peggy and I.

Virgie Bell's View: You're gonna hate yourself in the morning
Before Iowa Caucus
After Iowa CaucusIt is just the funniest thing how much we really need each other on this blog. Yours truly writes everyday about something and most of it is not very cheerful. This is the idiot season you know, what with the Presidential Campaigners and the constant bull that comes in. You can come in with minus 10 points and still tell everyone just how great the surge in the momentum is and really wonderful it is to be among the top 500 winning with 499 by just a hair. This with a margin of error. Do some people just love to get up early and stay up late to be in one town or another for years? Sleeping in a different bed each night (yes, I know but Bill Clinton does not count). Can power and money really mean that much to some people? But then of course it does. But today I really got a kick out of the comments on the picture with Lisa. I always get a good laugh when Christy sends a joke. Where she finds such funny stuff I don't know and it looks like Ray falls into the same category.
You know my life sucks when the only break I get from dirty politics and head shaving pop tarts is to go have surgery. But that seems to be my life and having it suck big green ones looks to be ahead. Here is the thing...we cannot afford more books for me to read...Ditto, newspapers, magazines and millions of catalogs in the mail. Why do I feel so compelled to look at each page, review each write up, and check prices? Today I have finally figured it out. Everyone who checks out this blog does all the fun stuff and in De’on’s case, fuzzy stuff. It is because that I do the other stuff. I check out the background of some of the ones who long for fame and fortune. To tell the truth I am so stunned that the folks in Iowa would choose Barack Obama, until I look at what they had to choose from. Then I realize that I would have just had to stay at home on this Caucus. It will finally be that I no longer must apologize to you, dear reader, because I would not have been guilty of giving any of them a vote on anything. The most amazing thing to me is that anyone in the whole world would vote for them on anything. Well, OK I would vote for John Edwards to be on a chain gang. Stuff like that. Sure...anyone with a lick of sense would do that. But vote for a man who refuses to salute the United States Flag? No way. But I have read his stuff so many times even I am sick of it.
The issue today would be why Huckabee? I don't mean anything by that except I have a problem understanding why a Baptist Preacher would even consider running for the highest office in the world. Have you really ever thought about how corrupt the world of politics is? Winston Churchill said once that the truth was too precious without having it buffered with lies all around. This was in preparing for the Normandy invasion. A corpse was taken out of the morgue, dressed in military garb with false papers in his pocket about how the invasion was somewhere besides Normandy.
Deception and propaganda are part of the rules to win a war. I have said that I think the wealthy and the highly educated should be right up there in that world, the other half of us just want to watch the play-offs, take painting lessons, or read. There are also those who get tattoos and shave their heads and wouldn't be caught dead in a voting booth. It has nothing to do with race either. There are just some things we will not do. We will not vote for anyone whom Sean Penn recommends. We will not give Hugo Chavez a little kiss on the cheek. Just some things are beneath us. Now the poll numbers for the Democratic Party were way higher than for the Republicans. It is still that same old silent majority. Some people just want to vote, they like another little holiday. They would love a Happy Monday. And Tuesday Appreciation day. Then some are like me. Who needs to go and change parties on paper? It is that old voting booth that counts and what you do there. Your vote and nothing else out of you for four more years. Here is the thing. We have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince. Now I really do believe that the public is much smarter than we are given credit for. I really do.
I have voted for one Sunday school teacher and what a joke that was. The most I got was the excitement of watching Brother Billy drink beer. While on the side, I got to watch our Embassy Workers held captives by Iran for over a year while my President sat on the sidelines and sold the Peoples Yacht. The only blasted one that ever was mine and ours. As I said before, the garage sale President. Yuck. Again I am sorry dear reader, because I was loyal to my party and not to my country. Now neither party can hold my foot to the fire. Not anymore. I will have a wait and see attitude before I pull that plug on the life support device of my country. If I had to vote for Obama, then I would feel that I had done just that.

Virgie Bell's View: 'Save the World' and as our way of saying thanks, get a free lead toy from China!!
Ellen Goodman - Liberal Puppet on a Pedestal of Putrid PuttyI am very sorry about the assassination of Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan. She was very aware this could happen and still she went to the country where she was born in order to bring democracy and a separation of government and religion, which, as noted, does not fly in that part of the world. You know as much about this action as I, therefore, I will leave the subject until we all know who did this dastardly deed, killing another 20 people in the process.
Ellen Goodman has been at it again and as I wrote just a week or so ago, she has got to be the most ignorant and indeed most un-American woman on the top side of this earth. She is an avowed Atheist, which of course is her right, but I am really sick and tired of her spouting off and falling down worshiping Al Gore. As I have stated in the past, most of the stuff spouted off by Al Gore is trivial crap and not even remotely on target. He has never been noted as a scholar, a scientist, or expert in any field and yet he has this large following. He was and is nothing more than I am and that is someone who knows a little bit about a lot of things and not much about anything. The difference being, I am not a danger to anyone as far as my knowledge and beliefs are concerned.
There is not enough money in the entire world to make me want to be a political figure, or even a public figure. I treasure peace and quiet above all things. I do not in any way desire a platform about anything more than our little Blog. It is read by some of my family and many military supporters, those who stand by our troops through thick and thin. As noted before, I come from a military background and we are a very patriotic family. We have little use for those who put something ahead of our nation’s protection against terrorism and tyranny, one that generation after generation of sons and daughters have given life or limb for. All wars are fought against enemies both foreign and domestic. They have always been about terror and they shall always be. Simply put, terror is extreme fear, and we have all experienced it.
When I was a little girl in California I got a good and righteous mad-on about something or another and decided to run away from home. I had made it about a half a block when I heard this step, slide, step, slide behind me. It was the Mummy's Tombstone come to life and I set a world record getting back inside my house. It was of course my dear brothers who were doing the step, slide, step slide. This was at night fall but as I ran past my brothers to get back safely, I could have sworn that it was two mummies with white grave cloth bindings floating eerily behind them. It was just that real to me. Anyone who says they have never experienced fear is a liar or else has the intelligence of a door knob. Being a believer in God, and also believing the Holy Bible to be the word of God, I know that fear is sometimes for the good. Who among us has not had to experience that a fire burns? Talk about hot all you want to. Each of us has to discover the fact for ourselves. My mother said that when my younger brother was just little that he wanted a bite of her hot pepper sauce and put up a huge howl for a rare treat that was being kept from him. She explained over and over again. My grandmother told her to just go ahead and give him a taste...viola...he discovered what a hot pepper was. We all have to find our own level of understanding. Our own level of acceptance.
Ellen Goodman has found herself to be among those that are far smarter than the rest of us. She said in today’s column that she didn't know why anyone would be upset about lead in toys that are imported from China after Al Gore has tried to warn us with global warming and we continue to ignore him. Here is my answer to this puzzling dilemma she finds herself in. Because lead is 100% poison you dumb ass....

Tighten Up, Healthy Hillary! Squeeze those glutes!
If you haven't seen it yet, you've got to and I don't know another way to get it up, so I am up for some technical advice here!
Hillary farts during debate captured live on CNN. You can also view it on our new little handy-dandy video clip called "Stinkies" right below the announcements.
Of course, this is a very natural body function. It could happen to any of us, but we're not running for President. :)
And thanks Ray for turning us on to this!

Virgie Bell's View: Silent is the Season...except for Hill....
"Old Thunder Thighs," and Why She Has Them
Hillary "Thunder Thighs" makes the Menu Special at KFCIt’s not surprising that Hillary is not doing well in New Hampshire and Iowa. They have had the privilege of her up close and personal and she can’t pass the test. Old thunder thighs could be accepted except for the Old Wicked Witch of the West Cackle, which is utterly chilling. You almost expect her to wring her hands and say, "And now my Little Pretty"....If Bubba can't pull it off for her, she can't do it. She actually has no real experience except as First Lady, and this of course puts a whole new meaning to... first... if you get my drift.
I asked my sister yesterday who was her choice. She is the only Democrat beloved by me and we had a hard time coming up with a good one. We decided we are for whoever is not so stupid that they call death by lethal injection cruel and unusual punishment. We are both getting on in years and wishing God would see fit to give us the old injection of falling asleep and just never waking up. We both agreed that John Cooey would have missed that little stick in the arm if he had messed with us. No, he would have been buried alive after a good old beating. Some of the stuff that passes for politics and rights are just too stupid for words. It is a good thing our parents have passed on at this time for they would have no doubt been in jail if someone told them how to raise us kids. Looking back at my family, I fail to see where they were wrong. Trust me; these parents knew how to maintain discipline, and they learned this from their parents.
I realize that I have been letting my fans down by not mentioning “Darling Britney.” The mother of the year has been named to star in NOW GET THIS...as Mary in the movie or play titled Sweet Baby Jesus. I can think of a hundred who would have been a better choice, but this is a French production, and as we all know, everyone loves every moment of the year in Paris, and even Britney is loved by them. And of course, she will help the wine industry and the ever important bottom line. I’m getting ready for some eggnog. Not the kind with liquor in it. Just the store bought stuff will do. De'on and I don't do the hard stuff and we really don't like to see anyone else having a better time than we have.
As for the season of Christmas, I noticed yesterday we are still fighting over the Christmas displays in the bigger cities. I am so glad I was raised in an earlier time. No one even thought anything about wishing someone a Merry Christmas. Now you just as well call someone a SOB, which I find terribly, terribly sad. I saw the big sign outside the Junior College nearest us and it said, Bright Holidays. I feel that we have lost so much with all of this political correctness.
I took the test on AOL to see how I would do on the lyrics and felt I would ace that test at least. Well I got five and five. It seems that Silent Night and the Bethlehem songs do not even merit being listed. They are: Rocking ‘Round the Christmas Tree, Rudolph, and Santa. The real purpose has been left out. I sang all my life and was just a small child within a large choir in California when I learned the word to all of the old songs. I was right there when Bing Crosby sang White Christmas. I like all of the other Christmas songs but I cherish Silent Night and Little Town of Bethlehem. We had a full orchestra there too.... Of everything, I really miss the music of this season. It is the saddest time of the year to be hearing impaired.

Virgie Bell's View: Defining Moment for Oprah
Oprah lied, Virgie Mom. Oprah actually endorsed one other person before her endorsement of Barack Obama. I am adding the picture of that historic endorsement to your fine essay.
Here is Oprah Winfrey with Michael Jackson.
_____________________
Sometimes it seems wonders will never cease and the Oprah push for Obama is just one of them. We should be thrilled this has turned out the way it has for just one reason. The reason is very good news for the American voter because the reading I would take from this is that the general population has more intelligence than we are given credit for. The celebrity must believe the hype that surrounds her—on-stage proclaiming, “This is the first endorsement I have ever made in my life!” Well, big wow! Do you know that as I set here at my ancient computer, far from cute, far from rich with absolutely no fame whatsoever and if the thought ever crossed my mind as to what Ms., Miss, whatever she calls herself, would endorse for president. It’s like this. She is what she is what she is. An en-ter-tainer, that’s it and nothing more. Rich, rich, rich, and not much else.
I wouldn’t trade my life, so notably dull and ordinary by any standard, for any portion of her life. Rich doesn't cut it for me. It would be nice I’m sure, but at some time one has to accept that ‘naked we came into this world and naked we will leave it.” To be able to rise from a life of poverty yet go out rich is failure for me. Let’s examine Ms. Winfrey's life and do so factually. She was a poor girl, a minority, had a teenaged pregnancy, gave the baby up, or aborted it—I don’t know on that.
Fact two: big problem with weight. It defines her above all things. The women of our country, in fact the men and children in our country face a similar problem. Oprah Winfrey has been like a yo-yo. She has done more to hurt the overweight people than any individual. The yo-yo syndrome is the worst hazard overweight people can have. If you lose five pounds in a couple of weeks and then gain six pounds in a couple of weeks, you gain back your normal weight, plus a bonus of a pound or fraction thereof, this bonus becomes a lifetime gift. On and on and on and so you have problems. So Oprah has taken a national problem that we can alll participate in. The latest most wonderful diet is a personal chef who knows how to cook low calorie. Right there is the break. Oprah knows how to promote Oprah. She is not ashamed to pull a little red wagon full of—fat—in front of a studio audience and report, “This disgusting pile of fat is what I have carried around with me and am now rid of.” As the load of fat increases so does the size of the wagon.
I can tell you, Oprah should not have a book club. The reason being that she can in no way claim to be an expert in reading. She simply does not have time. I should not have a book club and believe me I put in more time reading than anyone I know. But I read what I like to read and it is for whatever interest I have. I am a news junky. I am a political junky, a Dallas Cowboy junky and I love Texas. Does this strike a longing in you to be more like me? Duh? Of course not. Why should it? Simple truth is, it should not. I adore the talent of Tony Romo. I have not seen that since Staubach. But it all boils down to the team that goes along sharing success. Staubach wore the number twelve on his jersey. Romo wears number nine. Staubach’s small son wears the number nine. The greatest moment is just for the moment. The Oprah moment is just that. It is a bad thing career wise to believe all the hype about one’s self when the defining moment of your entire life is a wagon of fat. I used to take the magazine and I remember Oprah being in a full page ad in the same slick copy. She was posing as a cheesecake. Not nude, but as close to sexy as she will ever get, and when I saw this advertisement and my mind flashed to that moment: the Oprah moment...the one with the wagon..... Yep...she is rich.

Virgie Bell's View: Starry Eyed
Oprah "$$$$$" Winfrey - Selling herself
Barbra Streisand - whining and opiningThe stars came out in politics yesterday, and of course, I listened and watched as Oprah made big issue of the fact that it was the first time in her whole entire life she had ever endorsed a candidate. This all is just great as far as it goes. I do remember right after 9/11 when she was asked by the President to support our country in a show of support and her reply was that she had a show and a career to attend to. On that day, my opinion for her went into the toilet. I mean, there were over three thousand killed on that tragic and horrible day, and she, in her little liberal intolerance, refused to support the American people who had made her rich and famous.
Oprah is a legend in her own time. She represents in every way everything I was taught not to do. I don't know what her education consists of. I do know she has a following that I will never comprehend. Teenaged pregnancy, giving a child up, refusing to be involved in a marriage, yet declaring she is not gay. Black, overweight, she declares she will never diet again as it just does not work, then praises a new diet the next week. I will say that she has been able to go against any and all the rules that have been bedrock of the country I hold so dear. So no, I am no Oprah fan.
The candidate she stands behind has been smart enough to keep his white roots completely hidden, even though he was loved and raised by that part of his heritage. I don’t want anyone on this ticket to win the office of President. One will run for that party, and I do hope it is Obama that comes out on top for his party. Oprah, for all her loud and patriotic talk, still hold s an appeal to a lot of the people who watch those Jerry Springer type shows, and for the most part, are able to show just how ignorant the people of the white race are. She exploits our flaws and when she stands up for someone who is white, it is usually a member of the Hollywood set known for the average fifth grade mentality. No, I am not an Oprah fan, but when it comes to that, then I am more her fan than I am of Barbara Streisand, and certainly more than for the black actor who came out for John Edwards. I helped make Danny Glover rich and famous. He's an admirer of Hugo Chavez, the Castro want-to-be.
Anyone that expected George Bush to come into this war with any great knowledge of how to conduct it should look at the facts. He was a Texas governor, owned a baseball team, and the son of a rich man who was also thrust into a war. The difference in them, the elder Bush did fight for his country when we were bombed at Pearl Harbor. He fought gallantly and he ran Desert Storm and Desert Shield with absolute greatness.
I can say with certainty for our current president is that he did not throw any of his medals over the fence of the White House. No doubt, Dad would have kicked his butt over the moon; no one doubts the patriotism of George the Elder. Ms. Streisand has never been for anyone unless they were for her party, a party that has refused to give our military any backing at all, and one that has called them cold blooded killers of innocent women and children.
Old Dennis Kuchini has Willie Nelson for his backing, but I simply won't give him any credit for anything and just hope he goes home to his hot new love interest until he again runs for president. The result of all this is that I have finally come up with the one that I hope wins the right to run on the Democratic ticket. I guess I will hope for Obama to get that and just maybe he can bring his white family out of the closet, then again, maybe he won't.

More from Newt
Be sure to click on 'the results'--Good News!
At American Solutions, we have done months of work to create the potential to break out of the current partisan bitterness and move politics and government toward a unifying and empowering message that brings Americans together rather than pushing them apart.
Over the last six months, American Solutions has commissioned six national polls costing $428,000.
And the results? We've been pleasantly surprised to discover how many things the American people agree on.
A Core of Deeply Held, Shared Ideas: The Platform of the American People
The politicians may emphasize the negative and the news media may emphasize the conflict, but there are a lot of very substantive approaches to the challenges we face on which a majority of Democrats, Republicans and Independents agree. Pollster Kellyanne Conway calls these "tri-partisan" issues, because all three groups agree.
We reviewed all the polls and concluded that there was a core of deeply held ideas that had such strong support they could be called the Platform of the American People.
To distinguish these shared ideas from the usual red-versus-blue partisan bickering, we've given this platform a subtitle: The Red, White, and Blue Revolution.

Virgie Bell's View: Shunning
The really good news is that Hugo Chavez has achieved his goal. He has grown to be much like his idol, the leader of Cuba. He has lost the love and respect of the people of the country for whom he represents. He lost by a small margin of the vote to become president for life. I withhold judgment on this victory of the democratic election process until he steps down in 2012. It has never been the way of dictators to let an election get in the way of their ambitious desire for complete rule. I am not completely sure of what other countries can or cannot do in such a case. The whole premise of his rule was to spew forth hate and rage for the USA, in particularly our President. I cannot see old Hugo fading into the sunset, but hopefully I am wrong. We have seen dozens of dictators leave in the middle of the night to seek refuge in some foreign country, taking with them the wealth of the country they left behind. I had wondered if the people really believed the rants and raves of this petty bully. I would imagine that the tripwire was the takeover of public access to TV for the masses. Take those soap operas away and people have a way of getting in a very bad mood in a hurry. Sean Penn and Cindy Sheehan did nothing for his image. There were several movie celebrities who ran to Chavez to offer love and support for him and hate and disgust for the United States. Yesterday there was an article on the Hollywood worthies and the wisdom they possess. It seems they tally out to come in with most 5th graders in the old brain department of the USA. That is not my figure, but is that of a recent study. Remember that the next time they step up to tell you how you should vote.
I could hardly believe my eyes when I read of two journalists who’ve always been among the harshest critics of the present administration talking down Slick Willy. The ‘first black American President’ has run out of steam. I wish it was a shunning of this man, by people who find his actions while in office deplorable. I do know there was an outcry when he picked out a prime place in New York to practice whatever he professes to profess. The prime Manhattan property holders did not want this man to tear down the value of the neighborhood. At least one of these journalists finally calling Bill Clinton on his sleazy ways is a black journalist. My guess is that it is a racial response and not a response of a patriotic love of the country where I live. The reason that I fear this is because so far we know zero about Obama and his half-white heritage. His mother is white, his father is black. His mother is an American citizen and his father is from Kenya. Why this little bit of truth is being hid in the secret room in the attic has me wondering if this is a new low in politics.
I think back to the night that Halle Berry won the Academy Award and with tears in her eyes thanked her colleagues as the first Black Woman to receive this award. She went on to say that she has unending love and support from a mother who supported her every move. The camera then did a quick shot of the mother and she was more Scandinavian White than I am. She could almost glow in the dark. If a pick of the president turns into a racial issue, then it is doomed to be a failure. All people of the United States are for their country. That is first and foremost the prime reason to vote. The average American voter, no matter the race, wants to see us prosper and to raise the standard of living for our children. The Al Sharpton’s and the Jesse Jackson's have sort of sullied the liberal cause and made it vastly unpopular. Hate is like sand when you try to build a foundation upon it. The rains come and the wind blows and the structure is ruined forever.
Obama did beat Hillary in the resent election in Iowa by a small margin. I really want to know just what Obama is all about. Why does this man have so little regard for his own mother and her family? He saw his father once in his life, yet he embraces the heritage that betrayed him. This is not something you see in the African American mother and their sons. Mother is to most black sons the great love of the sons’ life. At least in the sports world. I have always admired that in the sons of the black mothers. I have never understood why so much regard is given to the Al and Jesse crowd. Not when someone like me is just as crazy about Terrell Owens as I am about Tony Romo.
Truth be told, I am just a little put-out with Romo over the Jessica Simpson dating. She is as close to being a pop tart as one can be while still wearing panties. She is gorgeous and appears to be made of the same material as the popular Barbie Doll. She looks as plastic and unreal as one could look. So for today, I am more of a Cowboy fan for the guy that wears the pearl earrings that match his gorgeous smile. They are both hunks, but Owens is just a little more so. At least he is able to keep his romance from taking over his fame. A bimbo is a bimbo is a bimbo. Of course she will let it out to the news media. Jessica Simpson is even jealous of her own sister if she receives a headline. Watch it Romo. Don't let your talent and good looks be over-shadowed by those who are known to be of a 5th grade mentality. I truly hope that the Cowboys get to play for the Super Bowl and I hope they win. I am so looking forward to something like that. A challenge from the very top against another at the very top. I am so tired of the Clinton’s, Oprah and her book club buddies, and I am very weary of the pious and the liars known as the Edwards’ who feel your pain. I am so ready to see a little something that transcends politics and race. Something that all Americans can get together on. I hope the day comes that we can shun Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton just as we have O J Simpson. Just as I hope we do Bill Clinton.

Virgie Bell's View: Waging War
What a wonderful way to start the day by having Osama Bin Laden to give us a nice little speech about the merits of not being guilty of killing innocent people. I alone am guilty of the attacks of 9/11 and the poor people that are in Afghanistan are being punished because of my singular deed. Takes me back to that day and remembering the kindness Bin Laden showed in New York, in Washington DC, and in Pennsylvania, and I would like to remind anyone who reads this that it was not the leader of the terrorists that was on that plane.
Now Bin Laden (of course) has the great majority of those brilliant Hollywood Liberals right in there standing behind him in calling the USA evil for starting an unlawful war. No one in Washington DC authorized such a war they say. Gush, gush, blink, blink. And we have got to put a stop to it so that we can concentrate on making everyone in America learn to speak Spanish, Italian, and Swahili as the case may be. (Aside to the camera she hisses—“leg shot please!”)
Being that I am just another dumb white English female voter and have no access to all the information that you and those like you and Harry Reid seem to be privileged to, I feel the only thing I have to judge the truth for myself is what I saw that day. Everyone will remember the Twin Towers and the planes crashing into them. We can recall those jumping out the windows while others remained behind to die in the flaming inferno. I remember the Pentagon and the attack there too. But there was no camera there to focus my attention to the plane that was brought down in a lonely field by the first Americans turned warriors, who saved thousands of lives and did not live to tell the tale. They died so that other warriors could fight on. They took two of Bin Laden's warriors with them and conquered the battle. Won that but the score was 0 to 0. Nonetheless, it was a significant win for us. It again awakened the Sleeping Giant.
When I viewed the devastation in that lonely field, the empty sky over Manhattan where the towers had once stood and the chunk out of the Pentagon, it never occurred to me that we had a war going. I knew about the USS Cole, the bombing of the Marine Barracks, and the first attack on the Twin Towers. I looked to the leader of my country to see how I was supposed to react. Remember, it was still a while before the Ward Churchill’s could remark that we had it coming. Those little Eichmanns had it coming says he. Well the man I voted for and the one I looked to for protection showed a stern face and sent a few bombs somewhere into places like that lonely field. Got it taken care of thought I... and went right on with my life. My leader was in charge and I felt safe again.
Now, as to this illegal war we are waging, I would like to say I don't need a vote from Washington DC or the reasoning behind the Ward Churchills that "we deserve it." I say shut up you poor misguided fools. This was an attack on my country against my fellow countrymen on that day. The day known forever as 9/11. As FDR said before, "a day that lives in infamy." Now sugar coat and intellectualize all you want. My heart went into winning a war that was declared on us. My beloved grandson gave his life’s blood for that cause. Shut up Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Sean Penn...etc. etc. etc. You have no right to withhold anything from our troops. They should be served champagne and caviar on a daily basis. They deserve everything and then some while you whine and narrate and worry about the next pork project for your district.
Votes, votes, votes. It seems my country is all about votes. I do remember one leader that day going from one tragic scene to another. A man with prostrate cancer and courage to spare in his cajones. I don't care if he had a girlfriend at that time. He was separated and as the saying goes...been there, done that, but he became the Alpha Male to me. I have checked him out thoroughly and admire him even more. He has a record that no one can beat, but I saw him that day, I saw him hold a terrified nation together, and I came to another realization. Giuliani is the man, the G Man, and he has a personal score to settle with Osama bin Laden. So do I.
If you harbor the enemy, if you feed the enemy, you are the enemy. The war on terror is waged within the heart of mankind.

[Where are we?] U.S. sues Salvation Army for speaking English
We get these newsletters from Grassfire and wanted to pass it along. Mom, this should really get you fired up. It should get all of us fired up. Where do we live? I for one do not care if someone doesn't know how to speak English. I'm not offended by that at all. I know how hard it has been for me to try and learn another language, but I will say this: This is America. English is our language. I am not going to be eligible for many positions because I'm not Spanish speaking (about 60-80% of the population where I live is Hispanic.) I have no problem with English being required for a job anywhere in the United States!
Read below and take action if it's important to you! dm

Gregory,
The headline is correct. The Federal Government has filed suit against the Salvation Army and is targeting other businesses that require employees to speak English on the job.
The Salvation Army Thrift Store being targeted by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EEOC) clearly posted its "speak English"requirements and gave employees one year to learn the language. But the EEOC still filed suit saying this was a "civil rights" violation.
And it's getting worse. Last year, over 200 similar charges were filed with the EEOC -- up from just a handful ten years ago.
+ + Nancy Pelosi sides with EEOCë© anti-English attacks
To make matters worse, Nancy Pelosi and Congress' Hispanic Caucus have teamed up to block an effort to put an end to the EEOC's attacks on businesses that require English. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) proposed a provision to the Commerce,Justice, Science Appropriations Bill (HR 3093, S. 1745) that would prevent the EEOC from such legal attacks. The full Senate passed the bill--with the Alexander provision. The House also agreed to the amendment, but later withdrew support after the Hispanic Caucus threatened to stonewall other House bills unless the provision was removed. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi agreed, saying the House will not vote on the bill until the English language provision is terminated.
Gregory, in other words, Pelosi and a small group of Congressmen are defending the EEOC's efforts to sue organizations like the Salvation Army that require English on the job!

Grassfire is urging ALL members of our team to take immediate action in two critical ways:
1. Call Nancy Pelosi and demand she move H.R. 3093 forward with the Alexander provision.
Here is her contact information: 202/225-4965
2. Fax the Speaker of the House and the Hispanic Caucus demanding they stop devaluing the English language. To schedule your personalized faxes to Nancy Pelosi and members of the Hispanic Caucus, click here: http://www.grassfire.org/25042/offer.asp?rid=12937225
Gregory, as citizens we cannot allow a small group of lawmakers to hold Congress hostage while they support the EEOC's anti-English attacks!
+ + Action Expected Within Days
Before Congress closes up shop for the year, Nancy Pelosi will push this bill forward. That's why over the next week, I want to flood her office and every member of the Hispanic Caucus with thousands of phone calls and faxes saying "We speak English in America!"
I believe grassroots Americans can make a significant enough impact on Pelosi to have her move the bill forward with the Alexander provision intact. But it starts with you.

If you don't want to take advantage of Grassfire's Faxfire fax technology, send the faxes on your own by downloading the targets, and letters--that you can personalize! Regardless of the method you choose, I urge you to TAKE ACTION!
Remember, Nancy Pelosi will move this bill forward before the end of the year. That means within the next two weeks, something will be done on this bill.
Before that happens, I want to make certain you and I have"weighed-in" on this critical issue that attacks our sovereignty and national identity.

Virgie Bell's View: Records

Just about the time I get it in my head to not renew my subscription to TIME, along comes an article which I feel has some redeeming qualities. Joe Klein is a member of the Democratic Party and quite the spokesman for that point of view. His article which I read yesterday was very interesting to me. He wrote concerning his take on what he considers to be the mistakes that his party of choice is making in regard to the debates that are going on and on and on.
First of all I would like to get one thing correct as far as those running on the ticket. The claim that there is one Hispanic and one black candidate is false. It is more like half Hispanic and half black. Mr. Richardson is married to an Anglo and Mr. Obama is married to a black. It seems that it is the choice of each of these two as to which group they identify themselves with and which audience they are speaking to at the moment. Those moments of "I understand your pain." Here is a clue to the message and they gave themselves away during the last debate. Governor Richardson said that he felt that human rights were more important than national security. OH? The senator from Illinois, Barack Obama, was of the opinion that the concepts were not contradictory, but complimentary. SAY WHAT?
Now if we thought politics was mean and ugly before now, well, then get ready because it is going to get really mean and nasty. Chris Dodd opined that national security trumps it all and Hillary agrees. At least for the day. Mr. Kline stated that if his party did not get serious on National Security there would not be a Democrat taking over the White House. He also said that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi were doing the party no favors as they tried to hide and protect those who are illegal, or are in touch with cells tied to Al Qaeda. That all people who receive phone calls and e-mails from or to questionable sources be forever erased. This is beyond stupid. I do not want any politician in any office who has this kind of thinking. Of course National Security trumps everything else, except it does not buy a lot of votes. No, we people in America just assume that we will be safe.
As I have said before, my life was a colorful one as a child growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles close to the great shipping port there during WW2. Everywhere I looked there was the military in all the different uniforms from all the different branches. To my way of thinking, it was pretty great fun. I got to have my picture made in different hats. I got to meet relatives that I did not know existed, to be picked up and swung up in the air by all these heroes. I didn't understand war. I just accepted freedom as my due. There were signs everywhere that had Uncle Sam with his finger in front of his mouth doing Shush...LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS. This was taken very seriously by the adults in my world. These people knew how hard freedom had been to come by. They all had friends and family who had shed blood for my privilege of thinking security and freedom were my due. Every friend and playmate that I had either had someone missing in action, captured and held in prisoner of war camps, or had someone of their own who had paid the ultimate sacrifice. Someone that had given their life my sake. The women were working the factories, welding, working at whatever had to be done. We school children did scrap metal drives and paper drives. We made posters that supported our fighting forces. We literally pulled together and won when everything was against us. WE PULLED TOGETHER.
Now in the weeks and months ahead please keep in mind that the only thing any politician is interested in is winning. Try as best you can to go by the past action of each candidate. If there is no record that is because there is none. During the holidays we will hear much about which candidate is best. But a record is a document that is proof. What is Hillary’s record? Or Obama’s...Richardson’s...or Chris Dodd’s? What do you remember most about them? Be honest with yourself, just as if your life depended on it and for the record here, please note that Obama has no record. He attends meetings and hearings and marks his vote as PRESENT. OH? Now Oprah is going to campaign for him.
I have never understood this nation’s captivation with Ms. Winfrey. When you get right down to it, she is very much like Jerry Springer in her exploitation of other people or just getting her point across, her view as she weaves her spell to suit her own preconceived take on life. She is a master at manipulation and she is very savvy as far as her career is concerned. It should be interesting. She needs to know that beforehand she will lose 50% of her audience. I have never paid any attention to her book club. I don't need to have someone to tell me what I need to read. Do you know how controlling that one thing is? First thing that is controlled in a prewar country is burn the books, make up your own books and feed them to the masses.
Now we must not leave out the Republican candidates. Fred Thompson, what is his record or Mitt Romney’s or Ron Paul’s. Right. Ron Paul is our version of Dennis Kuchini.... Seems we always have these to remind us that there are truly some idiots that run and not only the rich. For that matter, what about Rudy Giuliani? What about his record? Yeah, what about his record….

Virgie Bell's View: Terrorists, tunnels and targets
It was inevitable I suppose, terrorists slipping through the southern border into the United States. Last time I looked at my news on the internet, this news was not on it and did not remain on it very long this morning either. I would suppose the reasoning is that it would cause a panic. It seems the drug cartel from Old Mexico is assisting the terrorists at $20,000.00 a head. The weapons for these terrorists are being smuggled though tunnels that suddenly pop-up just as another is filled in by our border patrol. The terrorists themselves have made it into safe houses in Laredo and other border towns. Add that to the ‘peaceful purpose only nuclear facility’ in Iran which assures the Hezbollah they have nuclear capable rockets that are capable of hitting Israel.
All of this is insane and I know that I am singing to the choir on Gunz Up, but what else can I do? Maybe in someway each reader can influence someone somewhere and whatever is needed to support the troops in the way of financing them to defend us from enemies both foreign and domestic can be gained. I would hope that the enemies on Capitol Hill are satisfied. We talk of budgets, health care, the environment, etc. (anyone shopping for carbon credits needs to see if they can buy nuclear free air at the same time.) The most important issue facing us and I have stressed this over and over, is the War on Terror. That we do whatever it takes to protect our country and do so wherever it takes us is critical.
I have frequently given thought to what it would take to keep our country secure and our loved ones safe, but in the final analysis, if someone wants to perform acts of terror, they will. I had thought of a wall like the Great Wall of China. After centuries it still exists. The Berlin Wall worked pretty well too. It will take something like a no-man’s land that can really be protected with our military. In other words, shoot to kill. Hard to do? You bet.
Now this crapola about us squandering our goodwill around the world needs to be addressed. The head of all of this is in mountains and caves in Afghanistan and the Pakistani Border. The head of the snake is right there. Cut that off, the rest will die. The only way we have of doing this is just like President Bush said, “If you are a terrorist, if you feed one or shelter one, you are the enemy.”
It is almost laughable that we have just now come to the realization that when the President stood under the sign that said “Mission Accomplished”, the mission was to get the troops to the battleground and secure the battle ground. BATTLEGROUND. The most important real estate in the world on a war on terror. Face it once and for all. War is Hell. It is a disaster in unimaginable terms of life and property. It just is. If we don't have oil we are helpless. Watch for the hand of God in the near future. God takes up the mountains with little effort. Here is another thing I would like to say. This started on Clinton's watch. It should have stopped right there, but the White House was filled with the Peaceniks watching movies, eating popcorn and staying awake until the wee hours because he has this problem that included entertainment of the world.
I know that I am no military strategist but I will bet I know more than just about anyone in the House and Senate. I have studied these battles for years and years. There is a place around the Capitol that goes deep underground and is ultra secret and impenetrable. It will hold the vital members of the heads of the state. I had a cousin who worked at the Pentagon when the Atomic Bomb was still all we had. We asked him what was the best protection from such a bomb. His reply was simple and straight forward. He said, "Pray that you are in target zero when it drops." That is a firecracker compared to what the world seems to have. The last great battle that was won was when John F. Kennedy was in office. When he backed down Fidel Castro and Khrushchev. We came within two minutes of it all being over. He was a war hero himself and was cut down in Dallas by a Russian trained traitor with a Russian assault rifle.
I didn't like Bush’s views on a couple of things which are immigration and hooking up people to artificial life. I have nothing against him for giving it his best shot for the war on terror. One more thing I would like to address is the fact that the President has very little to do with the economy. It is really the House and the Senate that does all that. He requests and they give or deny.
Should everything come to one final head, I hope that I am a part of Target Zero. We’re pretty close to White Sands, NM ...birthplace of atomic bombs. The only thing that this war has in common with Vietnam is that our military was not allowed to win. It was never the military. It was the peaceniks then, just has it is now. Up yours Rosie O'Donnell.

Virgie Bell's View: On John Edwards and other 'Weather Whisperers'
John Edwards is doing what comes naturally for him. He is proposing to get into the Strategic Home Heating Oil Reserve in order to lower home heating costs for the low income people. Our Strategic Reserve includes every commodity that is essential for the nation to be able to carry on in case of an emergency. It is simply an insurance plan...life insurance for the USA.
When a person builds a 29,000 sq. ft. home, it takes a lot of energy to keep it warm and cool. In the first place no family on earth needs a home that big. When are we going to hit on the waste of these kinds of things? Homes that are mansions. Homes that cost more per day to heat or cool than most people use in a year. Is there no shame to this lavish spender? If Edwards is really concerned about the poor, he should never have foreclosed on homes where the owners have been late on payments because of Hurricane Katrina. He is the man that spends $400 for a haircut and God only knows how much for his hair stylist to travel or otherwise be ready to attend him at a moment’s notice. In other words, he’s part of Mr. Edwards’s entourage. I wish we could find out just what all the fat cats feel they need in order to survive.
Gas prices and gas taxes are the lowest in Washington DC than any other place in the country. Now that means my tax dollar has to go to support what they themselves will not pay for in government services; therefore, my tax dollar must be used. It seems to me that Mr. Edwards considers any reserve in any capacity as his or his fellow candidates’ duty to find a way to get access to it.
In my opinion, a person can best be judged by observing how they treat their fellowman in day to day actions. John and Elizabeth are despised by their neighbors. Now why is that? We have a neighbor who is detested by all of our other neighbors for blocks around. This is the same neighbor that I had to call animal control in order to stop them from bringing their dog to our front yard to poop. I have always said that I will have one more butt kicking because I won’t be able to avoid taking it upon myself to correct a situation on my own. At my age and with recent health problems, it would not take much to do just that. I stay away from people like this. I do not enjoy being around them, though I have been known in my younger days to have been involved in a tussle or two.
My mother used to tell the story of my wonderful brother, the eldest living sibling, attending his first day of school. Mickey was being chased by a bully coming home that day. Bennie (my younger brother—the three of us were truly stair steps with only eighteen months separating each of us) and I were looking out the screen door, waiting for our hero to get home. Mother said as soon as Bennie and I saw the situation that we ran right at that bully and then the three of us beat the tar out of that bully. You might say I was a part of Mickey's Strategic Reserve. Now my folks were smart savvy people but they both believed that sometimes you have to fight for your rights. I hate to think what would have happened to us if we started a fight on our own, but we learned pretty early in life that we were not to run. I had the same thing happen with Lisa. A couple of girls would make her miserable after school. They were bullies. Female bullies are the worst. That is why it's called a cat fight with all that scratching and pulling hair. It was not in my home training to cat fight. Pretty easy lesson that my dad taught me: if it was inevitable that the fight was going to take place then the best thing to do is double up your fist and go for the nose. I exhausted every avenue to help Lisa with this problem in a lady like fashion. I was just so sick and tired of her coming in with a broken heart and dreading school that I finally told her the rule with the bully is whip his butt. Well she did and in that one instance, we lived happily ever after. Kayla had a little girl jump her and Lord knows she had never had to take up for herself. She confided to me that her mother gave her permission to call the little girl a naughty name. I took Kayla aside and told her the fist to the nose strategy. Sometime, somewhere it will happen and it’s good to know how to at least try and take care of yourself.
Just what a person really needs should be sufficient. Al Gore does not need a private jet in order to gad about playing the part of God and controlling the weather. He does not need to put into action the buying up of carbon credit to solve the problem of global warming, the first reason being, there is no such credits in the world. We are trading air. Get over that bridge in Arizona; try buying a tornado or a rain for that matter. You just cannot. It is impossible. We cannot farm our way out of global warming. It would take way more water than we have. Ask Georgia about that particular shortage. It is a biggy. The rain can only come from the real Rain Man. In the end we stand helpless without God. Now John Edwards is not the first to use this vote getting opportunity. Breaking out the strategic reserve. Clinton did the same thing even though home heating was not all that high. It is called “buying votes.” No other name for it. I think the poor people have caught on. The fat cats are for the fat cats. They care nothing about really poor people. If they did care they would give our military whatever it takes to win the War on Terror. They would stop building 29,000 square foot homes and flying in private jets. They would not use way more than their fair share of our essential gas, electricity, etc. They would be a part of the human race that had respect for the rights of others. There is such a thing as rich white trash. These fat cats are just the same kind of person my neighbor is. The kind that will bring the dog to do his job in my front yard. That is what Al Gore and John Edwards and anyone else that lives that way are, just filthy White Rich Trash.

Virgie Bell's View: On Kuchi Baby....
That dashing debonair Dennis Kucinich has finally spoken out about how he would get this world in order. How he would take care of the war and obviously get rid of future wars. The trick is to get rid of the warriors and do that first. He was on hand for the 18th annual protest at Fort Benning that trains Latin American soldiers, government officials, and police. His take on this brilliant deduction is that this and other training facilities like it are what caused the war in Iraq. You don't get to hear very much out of this presidential candidate unless you are into attacking our military. If I was still as gung ho about voting a strict Democratic ticket as I used to be, I would have deep misgivings about my party with this little toad running on that ticket to start with. I finally have some grist for the mill now. Can anyone in their right mind believe something as ridiculous as that statement? Training at Fort Benning and other facilities like it caused the war. This is beyond stupid. It is down right one of the biggest insults to our troops that I have heard from anyone. Not that old Dennis has that much of a following. No one that I know would vote for this despicable little man. I cannot for the life of me figure out what he is doing upon the stage of a debate between candidates for president for either party.
When I was on my roll voting for the Democratic candidate it used to bother me that we had the goofiest political pundits one could imagine. Michael Kinsley was one. If you traced his lineage I am sure he would be kin to the kin of Hillary Clinton. The eyes and the wild look have to be a family trait. Not everyone is familiar with Mr. Kingsley and I used to wish that he didn't represent my party on Crossfire because, well, look at him. He still does an article for Time magazine now and then. I would always wish that Crossfire on CNN could find someone else to do my speaking as far as the goals and accomplishments that were at the heart of my party. Come to think of it, I was forever amazed that Arafat was the leader of the Palestinian people. Here is the difference I am referring to. You know some guys are just hunks. We just love to see them in any form or fashion. Tony Romo could make a speech about any issue and I would set there in rapt attention. Or Terrell Owens or just about any of these big league ball players. I know I am a little old and way past being a looker, but that doesn't mean I am past looking at a looker. They are inspiring just being alive on the same planet where I reside. It is different for old Dennis, or Arafat, and way different for someone like Ahmadinejad. I find them utterly repulsive. An eyesore if you will. Now Bill Gates is no Tony Romo but he has accomplished so very much. He is a geek that has accomplished what a geek was put here to do. That is to be smart enough and inventive enough to have played a significant roll in making my life a little more interesting. If you have enough brains, you can fulfill a place that society desperately needs. Now there is still the recent argument about who really came up with the internet. Al Gore has made that particular claim but I think that is just so much Hollywood clap-trap. I really think that Bill Gates did that stuff but what do I know? I could be wrong.
We are hearing on a daily basis about the leader or dictator of Venezuela. He now has made a demand that the US dollar not be the current choice of world trade standards. He said that the USA currency just does not have any lasting value. The currency of Venezuela would be his choice I would assume. That currency needs to be the world standard as far as this little tin pan leadership is concerned. No one in their right mind will be trading with his country. He was calling Spain a fascist while making one of his speeches and the leader of Spain finally told him to shut up. Well, in retaliation for Carlos of Spain's insubordination, Hugo Chavez is taking over Spain's different investments in that country. He has taken over everything else. Here is the man who is the leader of a once great country and his ideal man, his role model is Fidel Castro. People in Cuba are starving. The infrastructure of Cuba lies in shambles. The people of Cuba will try to come across to the USA on an inner tube in shark infested waters. If a Cuban refugee put as much as one foot on North American shores, then he is under protection of our government. Cubans flee just like those of Jewish descent fled from Germany. Hugo Chavez wants to be just like Fidel Castro. The great leader of the poorest and most desperate population in the world is what he aspires to. That is just the same thing as me firing up my cigarette and setting before my computer envying those who stare into space into a world we do not ever understand and hope never to be able to understand. A leader? Are you kidding me? And here comes John Kerry closing in on the back stretch. UNBELIEVABLE!
