A Link in the Dark

I've been out shopping around. I found a link that most of you probably know about. It's called MarineParents.com. Click here to check it out. She started out very small and gets so many hits and emails per day, she has volunteers. She, like all of us, has a story that is heartbreaking, yet what she's doing and has done is touching and helping thousands.

There are so many support groups out there! I had no idea. I had just barely joined Marine Moms when Aaron was killed. In fact, the registration was approved after the fact. So tonight is my first time out checking all the stuff. TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) is a good one, and their name sticks in my head due to the Gold Star Moms support group (a rather inactive one right now) I belonged to over a year ago.

But yes. I'm out gathering and planting seeds of info. Sometimes it takes waking up out of the grief long enough to see what's out there. I'm just looking for that special button to click to the news coverage of the military world. I wonder if I'll have to create it? If so, I should start planning now. A catchy button, by all means.

Later,

De'on

Dear De'on,

Thank you for remembering TAPS, please know we are here for you and those who are reading this, to provide compassionate care and resources and information about coping with a traumatic loss in the military. You can find us at www.taps.org.

With love and support,

Bonnie/TAPS

Thank you so much for your comment, Bonnie.

I've heard nothing but good about your organization.

De'on, I've been a member at marineparents.com since about a week after #1 son left for bootcamp. It's hard to believe that's been over 2 1/2 years ago now. It was my lifeline while he was at bootcamp and I met many of the other parents in San Diego. It's also where blondiebee and I found each other, so in a round about way marineparents.com is responsible for Lubbock Marine Parents being in existence. :)

That's fantastic. Isn't it funny? I think I came across you guys while I was visiting in West Virginia or Japan! :)
