Muchos Sapos

Whimsy seems to have been strong among the characteristics of General Noriega. It is interesting to speculate on the delight which he derived from the ornamental playthings.

There is perhaps more than a whimsical twist to this toad with the derisive finger. An informer is known as a toad or "sapo" in the Panamanian idiom. Informers played a prominent role during the repression of the last years of the Noriega regime.

Even the military Teddy Bears have "sapos" in attendance.
