Writings and musings on the eccentric beauty of sacrifice. Come journey and write with us. We are family and friends resolved to capture something positive in a troubled world and laugh when we can along the way. This, then, is dedicated in Loving Memory to LCpl. Aaron C. Austin, USMC KIA Fallujah, Iraq on April 26, 2004. Rock On...

De'on, all of your Easter posts were beautiful, especially the things from and about Aaron. That voice! It was as much a characteristic of his as his eye and hair color, and what joy it brought us. Not being able to have children myself, I have always gotten my greatest joy from my neices and nephews. You and Lisa are wonderful mothers. I remember that both Zach and Aaron were always sensitive and caring to other children that they noticed were poor or needy. You both raised wonderful men, and I am so proud that I got to be a part of lives growing up.
I got a lot of smiles going through this. More smiles than tears. He seems so alive when I read his handwriting or read about that powerful and full voice.
I miss him more than ever. I think the acceptance stage must be here. It's difficult to accept, but little by little.... I don't know what.
I am grateful for the memories and precious treasures of his physical, very physical life. And Lisa and I both have always been grateful, thankful, that you are our precious brother's wife and that you are Sister to us, aunt karen to our kids....
