April 13, 2003

Navy Cmdr. Joseph Acevedo, 46, of New York, New York.
Acevedo died in Manama, Bahrain. He was assigned to the Naval Forces Central Command, Tampa, Florida. Died on April 13, 2003.

+ + + Since the Navy Cmdr’s name starts with an “A”, I am always running across it, and each time I wonder if this is someone I went to AIT with in Ft. Lee. Of course, that was the Army, but he could have switched. The age is about right and the Acevedo I knew was from the Bronx. He was always squared away and a hard-charger. He had that Bronx attitude. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if it was him, but I was never able to find a photo or information on him, though it’s been quite a while since I looked.

Army Spc. Gil Mercado, 25, of Paterson, New Jersey.
Killed by a non-combat weapon discharge in Iraq. Mercado was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on April 13, 2003.



April 13, 2004

Marine Pvt. Noah L. Boye, 21, of Grand Island, Nebraska.
Boye died from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on April 13, 2004.


Marine Cpl. Kevin T. Kolm, 23, of Hicksville, New York.
Kolm died from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on April 13, 2004.


Army Staff Sgt. Victor A. Rosales-Lomeli, 29, of Westminster, California.
Rosaleslomeli died in Iraq when an improvised explosive device exploded near his escort vehicle. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. Died on April 13, 2004.



April 13, 2005

Marine Cpl. Michael B. Lindemuth, 27, of Petoskey, Michigan.
Lindemuth died as a result of wounds received from enemy mortar fire at Camp Hit, Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Inspector/Instructor Staff, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Akron, Ohio. During Operation Iraq Freedom, Lindemuth was attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). Died on April 13, 2005.


April 13, 2006

Marine Cpl. Salem Bachar, 20, of Chula Vista, California.
Bachar died due to enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on April 13, 2006.


Marine Lance Cpl. Stephen J. Perez, 22, of San Antonio, Texas.
Perez died due to enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Died on April 13, 2006.


Army Spc. Andrew K. Waits, 23, of Waterford, Michigan.
Waits died in Baghdad, Iraq, where an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on April 13, 2006.
