April 24, 2005

Army Spc. Robert W. Defazio, 21, of West Babylon, New York.
Defazio died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of non-combat related injuries. He was assigned to the 23rd Ordnance Company, Miesau, Germany.

Army Spc. Edward J. Anguiano, 24, of Brownsville, Texas.
Spc. Anguiano was in a six-vehicle convoy on Highway 7 in Iraq when enemy forces ambushed them on March 23, 2003. His remains were recovered on April 24, 2003. Anguiano was assigned to 3rd Forward Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Army Staff Sgt. Stacey C. Brandon, 35, of Hazen, Arkansas.
Brandon died in Taji, Iraq, when mortar rounds hit his camp. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 39th Support Battalion, 39th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Hazen, Arkansas. Died on April 24, 2004.


Army Staff Sgt. Cory W. Brooks, 32, of Philip, South Dakota.
Brooks died in Baghdad, Iraq, of non-combat related injuries. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 153rd Engineer Battalion, based in Winner, South Dakota. Died on April 24, 2004.


Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathan B. Bruckenthal, 24, of Smithtown, New York.
Bruckenthal died in the Northern Persian Gulf as a result of a waterborne attack. He was assigned to Tactical Law Enforcement Team South Detachment 403. Died on April 24, 2004.


Army Capt. Arthur L. Felder, 36, of Lewisville, Arkansas.
Felder died in Taji, Iraq, when mortar rounds hit his camp. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 39th Support Battalion, 39th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Hazen, Arkansas. Died on April 24, 2004.


Army CW4 Patrick W. Kordsmeier, 49, of North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Kordsmeier died in Taji, Iraq, when mortar rounds hit his camp. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 39th Support Battalion, 39th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Hazen, Arkansas. Died on April 24, 2004.


Army Staff Sgt. Billy J. Orton, 41, of Humnoke, Arkansas.
Orton died in Taji, Iraq, when mortar rounds hit his camp. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 39th Support Battalion, 39th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Hazen, Arkansas. Died on April 24, 2004.


Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Michael J. Pernaselli, 27, of Monroe, New York.
Pernaselli died in the Northern Persian Gulf as a result of a waterborne attack. He was assigned to the USS Firebolt, forward deployed to Manama, Bahrain. Died on April 24, 2004.


Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Christopher E. Watts, 28, of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Watts died in the Northern Persian Gulf as a result of a waterborne attack. He was assigned to the USS Firebolt, forward deployed to Manama, Bahrain. Died on April 24, 2004.



April 24, 2005

Army Cpl. Gary W. Walters, Jr., 31, of Victoria, Texas.
Walters died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on April 24, 2005.



April 24, 2006

Army Staff Sgt. Metodio A. Bandonill, 29, of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Bandonill died in Baghdad, Iraq, from injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on April 24, 2006.


Marine Lance Cpl. Aaron W. Simons, 20, of Modesto, California.
Simons died while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on April 24, 2006.
