Virgie Bell's View: Kim's a teenager and we're stupid?

What is the deal with the constant lying anymore? Is it just because those in politics and the entertainment industry honestly believe we have some kind of national Alzheimer's that comes and goes from one minute to the other? Do they really think we are so easily duped that they can say anything and then change it completely in the next breath? Take Alec Baldwin, the raving maniac that threatened his daughter with some sort of a “lesson he would teach her, the ungrateful little pig.” Direct quote. He also said I don't care if you are 11 years old or 12 years old. Well now he claims that “he, of course, left this message for the ex-wife.” His wife, of course, is not a pre-teen. I saw clips of The View last night where he appeared with blabber-mouth and Barbara Walters setting on either side of him. All three looked terribly sad that we the public thought he might have gone off on the child, when in fact he was talking to his 11 or 12 year old bride. Don't you feel just a little insulted that we are looked upon as such dim-witted creatures that we can believe it no matter what?

The news this morning is that George Tenet has written a book that exposes how he tried to warn the Bush administration of the danger of a terrorist attack. Tenet was the director of the CIA and already held that office when Bush was elected. He informed the president that Saddam Hussein was also procuring weapons of mass destruction, and that he was fixing to use them on the USA. George Bush asked him, “Are you sure of the fact that he has these weapons?” To which Tenet answered, "It is a slam dunk". In other words, "I am positive Mr. President.” Now all of the hail and hearty souls in Washington scream for the head of the president. “He lied to us about weapons of mass destruction,” they cry! Yet I myself heard the same thing.


Now, the President is just the president. He has to depend on what the experts inform him of as to what is going on in the business of running the country. He does not possess a crystal ball in which he can see all things and know all things. No. His job is to listen to the so-called experts and act accordingly. Yet to hear members of Congress and the Senate, one would be led to believe that he and he alone had come up with this farce. “He lied to us,” they say. The president listened to the expert that was in the office and passed the fact that was told to him on to the American voter. As far as it being a lie, no one can call it that. There is a difference in late information and it never having existed in the first place. There was news on the net today about the Japanese ship from World War II that was tossed up from the bottom of the ocean off the coast of the Pacific Islands. If someone said it was sunk there, and then because it wasn’t in plain sight, but because they couldn’t see it, called this information a lie. Well, it’s the same thing. If anyone will look at the pictures of the Kurds who were gassed by Saddam Hussein, then one would have to admit that the monster man of Iraq sure enough had weapons of mass destruction. He murdered a whole village. Men, women, children. That is a definition of mass destruction to any sane person.

I am so sick of all the lies upon lies that are coming out of the mouths of the politicians. With the exception of one representative from California, the vote was unanimous for the war. Well no, make that two, with Dennis Kucinich. Or so he says. Who knows what he does or doesn’t do? He always runs for president, but other than that, he pretty much is zero on the horizon. As I have said before, he is just as formidable as Mr. McGoo. No one pays much attention to him in the least. He is just that imposing. I heard President Clinton himself warn us of the danger of weapons of mass destruction, but then of course, he might have meant it depending on what we thought "is" meant. Hillary said she would use her husband as a roving ambassador. I think she will have him as a running mate. She claims to be a feminist. I don't think so. She holds on to him as if her life depends on it, even when he has been guilty of adultery in front of the whole world. And then lying to Congress about it.

Well the election to come is all about how Bush lied about the danger in Iraq. As I said before, we were attacked on 9/11. Out of the blue. We had a battle on our hands right there. We had to have a battleground to fight this battle. I think Saddam Hussein’s Iraq was the perfect choice for that battleground. Sure. Afghanistan was where Osama Bin Laden was hiding. He still is, if the old devil is alive. It is a country with no facilities for any war to be waged. No airports, no roads. Just mountains and caves. A place to train terrorists is all. And we wanted to send our troops into this hellhole where we were bound to lose? No. Russia had already tried to win a fight with them and couldn't do it. Yet, on the other side of the world, we were supposed to be able to accomplish what was impossible to do from a super power within the area. I don't think so.

And as far as the latest with Alec Baldwin? My fellow Americans; Kim Basinger is not 11 or 12 years old. He was screaming his threats at his daughter; the little ungrateful pig ... is not a pig. She is a little girl. I don't know how old she is; ask her mother, as it seems dear old Dad doesn't know either.
