Virgie Bell's View: Shooting Stars...

I was one of those to take the poll as to a choice of who would replace the host on The Price Is Right. It was a multiple choice question which included the ever Big Mouth Rosie O'Donnell. It was a mere 85% of the voting out of hundreds of thousands who said they were sick of Big Mouth! Wouldn’t it be just absolutely the most wonderful thing if she has finally lost all of her allure to the public?

I have changed my mind about Imus. If he is to be canned then let's have a mass firing of all of those who do this sort of thing. Rosie is goofy, no two ways about it, but then is it not the utmost pinnacle of a double standard to let Snoop Dog get rich by doing the same thing over and over again, along with all of the other rappers that delight in using Ho? Stop one and stop them all or if not then its ok no matter the sex, race, or any other thing. It's a shame that we find this sort of thing entertaining. But let’s get real. No one alive today ever owned a slave. Al Gore came from the aristocrats that made their fortune with the help of slave labor. No one that I have ever known in my life ever dealt in slave labor—most of us have been “the slave” to something or someone at some point in our lives.

So let all men be created equal as the constitution was laid down by our forefathers. A firing across the board or a hiring across the board. If Jesse Jackson can call New York Hinkeytown because of the Jewish population, well, all I’m saying is that fair is fair. I do recall how great I used to think that little song was that went “I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never, never let you forget you’re a man!" I USED to think it was cute. Emphasis on the past tense of this word.

I am not watching American Idol this year. It seems the people vote on this new Sanjaya or however you spell it, because of his cuteness coupled with a talent for a new hair-do each week. What about the voice? Does that count at all? It seems not. As for Dancing with the Stars and Heather Mills with her attached leg; I mean does anyone really think the vote can be fair? There is the sympathy vote here. What is the deal here with TV lately that we have to battle within ourselves with some sort of a moral call, when all we want to do is be entertained? Heather Mill’s was a professional call girl and pin-up before she lost her leg and now we are supposed to treasure her courage in this competition.

Maybe it is just information overload for me because I am the biggest news junky alive. I can't tell you how much I shudder to have the same name as Anna Nicole’s mother. I was named after my grandmother and she was a tiny little Christian lady. I have gone nearly 71 years sharing that name with only her and now I hear it every day from the fight in the Bahamas. I feel so sorry for that little baby girl. They are all just such contemptible people and so greedy.

I noticed that Halle Berry is full of complaints about how the publicity is so horrible. I wish she would just retire. She won an Oscar and the tears did flow and her heart was full of gratitude and now it is not. And what's her name in Britain, the one that said the British are so much more cultured than we Americans are? Now she is ready to make a big comeback here in the states. Is it just me or has the public had enough of all of this double-talk? I wish everyone would just please try to be just a little more deserving of the acclaim we have lavished on these so called stars. Really, enough is enough. SUPPORT THE TROOPS!
