Bounty Hunters

WANTED (alive, please)$1000.00 Reward
Steve is approx. 5'10", stocky, with brown eyes and mostly bald. He was born 5-3-58 (according to the birth certificate found in my car), but late 40's for sure. He speaks English and Spanish and has worked, at least some, in the field of journalism.

The bail bondsman who was recently on Steve’s HIT list came by here today. It was Greg he talked to, so “details” are rough, but there is a $1,000.00 REWARD out for this fine upstanding man shown above.

Steve has several priors for theft. The bondsman said today that Ramos is also guilty of identity theft. He has used another man’s social security number and name. Greg, bless his heart, can’t remember the last name, but he did say it starts with a “V”....

The bondsman, of course, would be most happy to find Ramos as once again, Ramos put up NO MONEY, so said bondsman was out for the entire amount of the 10K bond plus the expenses he’s had looking for the criminal since, not to mention the fact that he felt sorry for him and even gave him $15.00 for lunch!

If you think you’ve seen this man, call your local police (or bounty hunter ;)because Steve is in the system.

Meanwhile, here is his very next lie on Aaron’s message board one month after the first one.

"Dear Aaron,
I know, I beieve, you can see what I write. Buddy, I was the reporter who covered your memorial. You know how much it moved me. I've never recovered from it. You have changed my life, and I live each day grateful for what you have shown me. You are
one awesome guy. I don't complain anymore about the little things that don't matter. You know how we gripe about our jobs and traffic and all those things that don't matter when I think of what you did for us.

When I think of the things that are annoying me, I think of your bravery and your sacrifice. I'm telling you, Aaron, it shuts me up. No way could what I have to put up compare to what you did. As I said, you've changed my life, even though I never met you. Some day, I hope to meet you in Heaven. I hope you're there at the gate to meet me, Aaron. Do you know that I'm a better person because of you?"
Steve Ramos of Texas

"10/2/05

Dear Steve,
Thank you for sharing with us in this way; it is a blessing for us."

We should at least come up with a title for our search of Steve. Any suggestions?

Main thing: Pass this story along to anyone you know who may be in a vulnerable position right now. Even the bondsman said he fell for his story (whatever that may be) so don’t trust someone you haven’t known for a while, a good long while, someone that appears vulnerable, when it is really the other way around. If you’ve suddenly changed someone’s life (or your lost loved one has) that never knew you before, BEWARE!, because Steve Ramos totally disappeared, as far as having any correspondence with me for nearly a year before he resurfaced.… even if you run a check on your new admirer, don’t take the chance. They may have someone else’s identity!

He makes me wanna puke! I just wish they'd find him and lock him up. The best ending to this story would be someone like Sgt. Rett or Doc Duty would find this piece of crap and haul is azz in! OH, but you said found alive so maybe its best they don't find him (smile).

Me too Diane! Oh, and I'm hearby revoking his claim to be a Texan. Who don't want his kind.

You go ladies. He's just mooching his way on to the next victim. What a worthless and sad state of human to become.

Title- Invasion of a Body Snatcher

He morphs into what he thinks you want him to be. As a sociopath, he can only mimic real emotions, he can't feel them, no conscience, no remorse, only how it affects him.
He's sickening.

Great title! Consider it the title then.

I, too, have been hurt by Steve. I like to think that forgiveness can heal the wound, though I still feel the after-effects of betrayal's venum running through me, and am not sure I will ever be rid of it. It just doesm't seem posible that the person I knew could be the same person who hurt us both. When was the court date he missed? Any word on whether he left the dogs with relatives(his mother) in Dumas, TX or not? Yes, I know that, to some, it may seem irrelevant...call me sentimental.

I'm sorry you were hurt by him. He has little to do with any hurt I feel. I want him stopped and I believe the only way he's going to be is locked up. So I will go all the way with it given the chance.

His arraignment was about mid May and I don't know anything at all about the particulars of his situation or his dogs, though I would imagine they're fine. I too care about animals, and I only wished I'd been treated as well by him as what he seems to treat them.

Ah ha...That was my first reaction when I came across your blog. I found him again. Then, my heart started sinking lower as I read his eloquent words. I was so afraid he had taken from you. I literally gasped when I read something about he wanted to put up a monument for your son "if he had the money."

See, years ago, I met the very same Steve Ramos in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a non-traditional student at the community college I attended. No, he never took any money from me, I didn't have any to give, but he taught me a life lesson that has stuck with me for now over 20 years.

I watched how he easily made friends with everyone, gaining their trust, only to skip out of town after taking money from a church. He used someone else's Social Security number to buy a truck. So many people were hurt no by the scam in the financial sense but in the loss of trust.

Years later, I was out of college and working in the journalism field when I came upon a AP wire report about him in jail in Dumas. I can't remember all the details but I called him up to verify it was one and the same. My next call was to the sheriff's department in Arkansas.

Tonight, I couldn't sleep and thought, I wonder if he ever straightened out his life. As I read about your experience I'm sorry to say, "Welcome to the Club."

Before Hot Springs, he was in Little Rock working for a retiree magazine and you guessed it, he pulled the same scam.

What a character...I'm sure his dream would be to have someone write a book on his exploits, in fact, I would bet you he is working on one himself.

I am truly sorry you had to deal with Aaron's death along with a low-life like Steve.
