From the Mouths of Babes: Copeland

Drawn by Copeland
...who is Aunt Linda Gay's grandson or Virgie Bell's great-nephew. So that would make Copeland Aaron's 3rd cousin. Copeland gave this to Aaron at his Welcome Home Party held in Lubbock, Texas Aug 2, 2003. I can't remember how old Copeland was, but Aaron had taken quite a liking to Copeland when he was just a toddler. They didn't get to see each other except maybe once a year, but everybody knows how much Aaron loved the little ones.

Letters and pictures like this for our troops from children are the most precious. I know that of all the mail Lt Rich got while he was in Iraq, I think he treasured the letters and pictures drawn by our neice and nephew the most. Hollie, 8 years old at the time asked him in her letter, "How many wars have you been in?", and she drew a picture of Rich and a comrade in "battle rattle" with big raindrops falling. She had heard us talk about the rain out at COP South. He was so tickled by this.

Kids are so neat. And you know Holly and Travis are like Copeland. They're raised by parents that don't trash our troops, so they just naturally do what they are able to support the troops. I love their drawings so much. I hope to keep it up, and I don't have kids, so those of you who do have or know young ones that have contributed their support in some way, let's honor them. Send in a drawing or story and we'll put it up!

And I know Holly's picture was a production! ;)
