THE GREAT WAR

WW1

It won’t be hard to tell that tonight’s posts are dedicated to World War I. As you can see, there is a great deal of information for the student to cover, but I think it’s really interesting.

Unless I’ve noted otherwise, most of the literature won’t be testable. I’ve added that for those of you who enjoy reading history, and hopefully, aspects of it that either you weren’t aware of or may need reminded of.

The many flags posted on Flag Day mean something. I don’t add “numbers” to alarm, but to show you what a costly flag it is. So much has been sacrificed and though it certainly didn’t begin with World War I, it is one I don’t think as much attention is paid to at this late date.

Remember, we said we’d never forget. And though they’re no longer here on this earth to witness their names, numbers, their literature and their suffering, perhaps they may look down from Heaven to know that we’ve cared enough to honor them in some small way here and that we care enough for their lineage that we support those they’ve bred into the battlefields today.

I chose to go heavy on the literature for a reason. I want those of you who may be shy in writing your wartime experiences, either on the battlefield or on the homefront to be encouraged to do so. So much of the literature I like during war has been something handed down and undiscovered for years. There’s not a one of us without a story to tell. And if you don’t tell it, your lineage will know it through someone’s eyes! Let it be yours.

I hope you enjoy the posts and links, and I better get back to the test!

Semper Fi,
De’on
