If Hillary wins the right to run for president on the Democratic ticket, and I certainly think she will, then we will have the influence of Bill Clinton to thank for it. He is after all, the type of person who can smile and grin and wave and charm the majority of the people most of the time. Hillary herself is viewed as the exact opposite. She possesses zilch in likeability. She can try as hard as anyone, but it just won't wash. Charisma is just there or not and not much one can do about it. I have a good voice for singing, but not one that would get me a job with any opera company. Not by a long shot. Not even close. Bill Clinton is a Rhoades Scholar, which means he is a very smart man, but then, so was Ken Lay. Smart doesn't have a thing to do with ethics. Because of what they are, the blessing we receive is that we are bilked and the victims of such a dubious gift. Take Enron and Ken Lay and the people who lost every dime they had because of his brilliance. I have made it a point therefore lately to check into the résumé's of these people that would be our leaders, both past and present contenders for the office of President. It would truly make you hang your head in shame.
Take Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and tell me the truth. Doesn't the idea of Obama being president make you a little nervous? It does me. I remember both of them marching against the Duke Lacrosse team. Men who did nothing were threatened with death because the girl who accused them of rape was black and they were white. All it took was a crooked politician and that is all Mike Nifong ever was. Can you imagine how shocked I was to find that both of these so called Reverends simply were two who knew how to play the race card? Just like it was played in the O.J. Simpson trial. Not that I am giving credit to O.J. Simpson for being smart.
What about John Edwards. What about his leadership ability? What record does he stand on? A trial lawyer who got rich by chasing ambulances. Fellow lawyers don't even like those. It has a dirty ring to others in the legal profession. Another Ken Lay kind of thing. Not the hardest thing to be successful in, bilking insurance companies who bilk clients who bilk these same clients, has nothing to do with real legal practice.
At one time I would not have believed that anyone would use cancer for financial gain. Steve Ramos cured me of that delusion. How someone can live with themselves after doing that, I do not know. I finally became suspicious of him. I am now very suspicious about Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. In place of what should be devastating news to a family, it is a political advantage. If John Edwards got filthy rich chasing ambulances, he would certainly know how to play the C card. It is too bad that he and Elizabeth have a blank spot when it comes to conspicuous consumption. No judgment at all. You do not parade as the savior to victims of Katrina and at the same time build a 29,000 foot house. The biggest house in the state. But if you do not have better judgment than that, you should not pick your mansion across the highway from a trailer park. The neighbors detest the Edwards’s by all accounts. If your neighbor doesn't like you something is usually bad wrong. As for the others who are running on the Democratic ticket, sometimes silence is golden and sometimes it is because there is not much to say for the rest of the candidates. Is this a pitiful line up or what?
