Name: Don Schroeder Devotional Title/Topic "Be Prepared"
I will never forget the day I received the news, with his voice shaking......"It's cancer!" I was so taken aback. Only forty-one years old! Is it really possible? How could God allow this to happen to such a good person, and our family? Many questions raced through my head...how serious, where and did they catch it early enough? As a few days passed, those questions were answered. It's very serious and appears to be in many vital organs. After a grueling ten-hour surgery, it looked very bad. I kept thinking and praying, there is no way God can allow this to happen. Well, as we all know, sometimes God's plan doesn't always include our plans. We prayed daily, begging for healing and God's intervention. As the days continued to pass and the doctors could no longer medically help, the disease began to affect his physical body. As Chuck grew weaker in the flesh, he grew stronger in the Lord. The days we talked about God's plan for our lives and prayed on the phone together, the Creator was growing us both so close to Him. As I look back, God was preparing us for that dreadful day. As those last days approached, it was amazing how God allowed Chuck to spend such valuable time with his wife, daughters, sisters and parents. Time: it's so valuable to each of us and to think how we spend it. Do we spend time with God daily? Do we read His Word daily? One of the last things Chuck said to me was that the temporary things of this world do not matter to the Creator of all. Stay focused on God and "Be Prepared" to meet Him daily----we never know when the time is nigh.
What would happen if others that you/I know died suddenly? Are they/you prepared?
Mark 13:32-33
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! "Be Prepared!" You do not know when that time will come.!"
