thinking blogger AWARD

I won the above award from Flag Gazer, who had some pretty fancy things to say about us which you can see by clicking on her name with your little hammer.
Re: rule #1 If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think. (Rules are at the end of this post.)

Here are my five choices: Hope I don't break any meme rules here. I'd hate to be the one to mess up Wikipedia's definition. But I don't even blog right. It's supposed to be short. I am, but my posts are not. Yet if there's even a clue that I might cause anyone to think, then I am encouraged all the more. We could build a virtual library here!

Okay, let me calm myself and go think: Mmmmmm. scary.

I guess I can't choose Flag Gazer, but I will say this about her. She offers more support for more groups of veterans, active duty troops, survivors, and honors the Fallen more than any other blog I've yet to see. Her dad served in the Air Force in WWII and she's lost friends in Vietnam. She writes to and supports many troops and their causes. Many of our troops have spent time at her home. She has recently been at the end of a tirade of protestors in her home state of Oregon, but still she supports as much as always.

But okay, I can't choose her.

1. Lubbock Marines Parents: Semper Fi Mom's blog has come to mean a great deal to me. Besides all the support she gives to not only our Marines and their parents, her blog causes me to think of ways I can add to my own blog to form a sort of permanent scrapbook for any who may care to have it. While I enjoy the pictures of Aaron, I already have them. Know what I mean? But there may be some silent Marine brother of his out there that would like to share in the photos or in the hope that even a parent can survive such tragedy. Semper Fi Mom has so many neat gadgets and ideas on her blog, and she is always so positive. Well, I've seen her mad once, and I enjoyed that post! ;) Her love of her family causes me to really THINK! I think I have the best one in the world, yet I can't even touch the support and work she lends to not only her family, but so many others.

2. Freedom, GUNZ, Glory, & EBYJO If there's not something to make you think in this blog, you haven't reloaded enough. GUNZ is of the NOT PC crowd. He says things I'm scared to, which makes me think of Aaron. He shuts down his blog to concentrate and pray for full custody of his daughter. He loves his woman, his family (which of course includes the Marines), his country and his God and suffers no shame whatsoever in sharing those beliefs on his blog. He, above anyone, does fancy footwork with his blog, but it's nothing you can copy, so that makes me think he is original. His comments and the freedom with which he applies them here touches me deeply. I'm happy just to see his name!

3. Jarhead's Firing Range This great, great Gunny is one of the first Marines I'd talked to in a while when I first talked to him on My Point Radio. I had already been reading his blog and was excited to be a part of his date with his daughter to the Marine Ball of 2006 as well as his experiences in going to college. He's stationed in Japan and it was through his blog that I met Semper Fi Mom. He's a fantastic writer and story teller and I think he could really do something notable with those attributes after he retires.

4. Seaspook's Rants Seaspook does a good job of ranting. He doesn't really rant as much as he lays out current news and commentary in a clear, concise, and often humorous display of conservative values and thought at its finest. I think he'd be great as the White House Press Secretary for the NEXT conservative President (Go! Thompson... for me, so far!) or he'd be a great speech writer. He's a good one to check out.

5. sCRiVEnERs foR CHRIST Sorry, but I have to choose one of mine! This blog REALLY makes me think as a few of us have joined together for a Bible Study as well as other inspirational writers and speakers. I started this blog to help get back into the study I was not paying attention to once I got so involved with the whole blogging thing. It's been great for me and good for a few others. It's neat to blog somewhere where Christ is the main topic! I'm also getting to enjoy a few of my mom's stories from her youth that she's always promised to put down "on paper" but is only now delivering!

###

So, there it is. Guess I'll go grab a taco and then come back and let all these fine folks know about their award.

Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging. I thought it would be appropriate to include them with the meme. The participation rules are simple:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.

2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,

3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.
