Virgie Bell's View: Blocked

New Mexico legislation has been in session and has voted to keep the bills and laws under wraps by keeping the public out. Our representatives in Santa Fe passed the law to keep the people of New Mexico in the dark by not allowing us to listen to them. The Democratic leader of this body of law was able to pass this by one vote. So here in NM we are in the dark about what is going on statewide until it is already too late for us to do anything but cast our vote. The question being: does the public have a right to know if those who legislate in our government will be allowed to do so under the cover of darkness due to secret dealings? I will not support the Democratic majority in Santa Fe.

I thought the Congress and Senate were disruptive in Washington DC during the Clinton administration. It was a paragon of efficiency and integrity compared to what we witness at the present time. It seems that nothing ever keeps going in the way it should go as far as our politicians are concerned. Our only solace is that they stay so busy trying to out-do the other one that they have little time to legislate our laws. Let no one deceive himself as to whether they are caring for anyone but themselves and their own self interests.

Nancy Pelosi is the biggest joke that has been played upon the American public in a long time. She came to this position because of influence within the powers that be. She did not receive her place as Speaker of the House because of ability. Not even close. You know, I am so glad she was never my mother or my grandmother.

Voters are contained in blocks. The woman’s vote is one... the minority majority, and the man’s vote. The liberal and the conservative are the two main parties that contain these blocks. Then there are the independent voters. Those who are likely to vote either way. I harbor within my heart a hope that it is to these individuals that contain the silent majority. Much of the time we will truly vote for the greater good, though we do not agree with anyone 100%. At the present time I am looking for tough. A tough Presidential candidate. One that is willing to guard the safety of this country. To fight the war on terror whenever and wherever it may be.

President Bush will be coming back to the United States anytime now. After viewing the demonstration of hate that is felt for our country by the citizens of that country, my vote is not for a mere fence to protect our borders; no, I would rather have something like the Great Wall of China. Something that would not be penetrated. I wish that it was funded and far along at this point.

President Calderon says that a fence or wall would be like the Berlin wall. What a lot of nonsense. The Berlin Wall separated a city right down the middle. No one could get in or out. This would be a fence or wall between two countries. A boundary. It should not be made into anything else. I am for security of the American population before anything else. And I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!
