Virgie Bell's View: Hilton Express (or The Trainwreck)

The Paris Hilton saga is exactly what I have been referring to with the celebrity and political officials. So out of touch with reality. No matter what happens and it could be anything at this point, in the hierarchy of the legal system the judge is god. He sits in the judgment seat of our legal system. The sheriff is not above him, although he is big time. For once someone is going after publicity and it is not Paris. Of course she is vilified, no doubt about it, but look what she has brought on herself. I will admit that I think it is entirely possible that she will have a complete breakdown, but she was going to kill herself or someone else. She became a danger to the general public. Aside from all that, this is about the justice system. Paris Hilton has thumbed her nose at the law of the land. It is about time that she learns she is not above our legal system.

All of the pontification in our nation’s capital by various dignitaries and elected officials is no different. What goes wrong is they start to believe the blah blah blah about themselves. That they indeed possess the wisdom attributed to them. If a man like Al Sharpton can stand on a stage and his party declare him worthy of competing for the highest office in the world, a man who claims he preached his first sermon at four years old and became an ordained minister at the age of nine years. William Jefferson guilty of bribes and racketeering yet is given a standing ovation when greeted by his constituents.

Then too, this last week we came close to awarding 12,000,000 illegals with citizenship. What in God’s name is wrong with us as a society? Somewhere the law has to take a stand for us to know the law even works. For Bush or anyone else to claim that it was not amnesty. Of course that was what it was. I think it was truly a grass roots movement that stopped it. The voter had their say in public out cry. The various flags that were draped over shoulders and hoisted from other countries were a great put-off to the citizens and should have been. I think it is time for an accounting by officials to obey the law. You hear all these legal beagles saying it is not fair. No one else had to go to jail for something like this. Look at it this way. Why did they not?
